Clay Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 not sure, but I would say it's better than a 1 ton. CLose
Jon Cole Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 ahhh yeah that's right....it's the Scorpion! I forgot about that earlier, wasn't thinkin right. We have a Bingo. Hold your cards please! OK, I bet you can get this one... Meantime, I'll be working it over with the buffer...
Kenny Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 It's kind of hard to tell but I think that was a blue two door hardtop of some kind with front disc brakes. Maybe. Rear quarter looks kind of moparish but it might just be crunched.

Kenny Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Look closer! The answer IS in there! Okay, I guess Dodge Charger.

dub Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 how about a '69 camaro. I'm goin' with Dale's answer..... BUT, I do see the likeness to a Mopar so I am still a bit unsure.
george 53 Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 It IS whats left of a 69 Camaro. NOT a pleasent sight!
Modelmartin Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Porsche tractor...yes, Porsche made tractors. The University of Nebraska evaluated tractors and got their hands on one years back Porsche designed it in the 30s but it was manufactured by others in the 30s and after the war. The airplane was not designed by Porsche, just the adaptation of its flat 6 engine for aircraft use. Sorry to be so pedantic here, but you really wouldn't want to go around citing incorrect info would you? Doing crash photos now, Huh!
dub Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Doing crash photos now, Huh! It looks like what's left of a convertible Celica to me. One of the late ones, but before they got all wedgy looking.

Actually the Porsche PFM Mooney was quite a bit more involved than just an engine adaptation.
Jon Cole Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 how about a '69 camaro. Dale has it correct. "1969 Camaro Z28 that entered the old yard in 1969 or 1970 with just over 5000 original miles on it after the driver hit a bridge abutment at high speed"
Jon Cole Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 OK, you may or may not have seen this one before.
Jon Cole Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Doing crash photos now, Huh! Just a wild guess.... 1992 Toyota Celica that crashed into a Ford F-350 head on at a combined speed of 90 mph. Am I close?
Modelmartin Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) Just a wild guess.... 1992 Toyota Celica that crashed into a Ford F-350 head on at a combined speed of 90 mph. Am I close? But what year and color was the f-350? You are a good wild guesser! I can not imagine how you guessed the other vehicle involved and the speed. The F-350 must have left a unique impression on the front of the Celica that you were able to identify. Have you thought of a career in accident reconstruction? Judging by how good you are upon seeing a single photo, I would venture that you could rise to the top of the field very quickly! Edited March 22, 2008 by Modelmartin
Modelmartin Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Actually the Porsche PFM Mooney was quite a bit more involved than just an engine adaptation. Actually it was. Mooney sucked a bunch of money out of Porsche at the same time to foot the bill for redeveloping the plane. Then Mooney switched back to Lycoming a year later!
Guest roadkill2525 Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 OK, you may or may not have seen this one before. Gary "Chopit" Fioto's Beatnik '55 Ford Bubbletop, saw it in Rod & Custom Feb '07 issue

I'd like to thank my friends at Wrecked Exotics dot com! Without finding the original photo, I wouldn't be here accepting this award! Which way to the free eats?

Then Mooney switched back to Lycoming a year later! Yup that's true, too. Most people think it was a way for Mooney to get there extended airframe certified, which they couldn't have done without Porsche's money. It was kind of a bad deal for Porsche. Jon Cole Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 "Beatnik '55 Ford Bubbletop" CORRECT. Another one...
Nick F40 Posted March 22, 2008 Author Posted March 22, 2008 Not sure on that one but, Tell me make, model, year, who made it, engine, and what it competed in........................
Brendan Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Here's an easy one. Want the name/make of the car. Name of the motor. And how many cylinders.
Nick F40 Posted March 22, 2008 Author Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) #53 Panoz Esperante GTLM driven by both the Robertsons, 8 cylinder harmony, I think Elan Power is the engine. Edited March 22, 2008 by Nick F40
