dub Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 OK, I can see two 3 series BMWs, a pair of Seat Cordobas, and looks like three or four Alfa Romeos. Looks like a good race with all those cars crammed into a corner! (Might be turn #1....)

84vanagon Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 a pair of Seat Cordobas, Aren't those what Ricardo Montalban waxed so eloquently about being covered in "fine Corinthian leather"?!
dub Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 nice Dub, yeah turn 1 Macau Grand Prix! WTCC..touring cars at it's finest! You know what year though? Don't know the year, but it is this century. The Golf in the photo, however, is an 85-87 model. It also is wearing a Hella ground effects kit. That is a reeeeaaaallllllllyy rare set up these days! (Stateside, at least) This one is in England. I wonder what year this was taken.

Roadkill2525 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Aren't those what Ricardo Montalban waxed so eloquently about being covered in "fine Corinthian leather"?! That would be a Chrysler Cordoba
Draggon Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 That would be a Chrysler Cordoba My dad had one of these...re with white vinyl top, white interior, whites and wires. Kept joking with him that he needed a felt brim to go with it. He didnt know what "pimpin" meant It was kinda pretty in all of it's excess, though.
Olle F Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Aren't those what Ricardo Montalban waxed so eloquently about being covered in "fine Corinthian leather"?! The funniest thing about that commercial is that there is no such thing as "Corinthian leather", it was just a name Chrysler came up with for the marketing campaign. But it sure sounds exotic.
Harry P. Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Wouldn't "fine Corinthian leather" come from Corinthian cows???
george 53 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Harry, yes it does. From cold Corinthian cows, on the isle of Corinthia, in the Agean Sea.These cows were raised by young virgins an sold to Chrysler Corp. for the new(THEN) Chrysler Cordoba. But unfortunately, the virgins ran out of virginity, an could no longer raise the cows, thus, Chrysler decided to drop the Cordoba. Just another footnote of automotive history.(YEAH,RIGHT!)

But it sure sounds exotic. Are you really sure about that, Olle. I have Bibles from the 60s that have the imprinted words "Corinthian Leather" on the bottom of the cover. It's very thin, but leather none the less. I have seen those posts on the web about the Chrysler marketing reference. They have no basis in fact. Edited October 12, 2008 by lordairgtar
