Fanny,  Charity Ball 1970-71

A better song off the album:

Not a big deal in the USA, but they were popular in Europe during this era. I lived in Germany at the time and of course I have the album!

The two sisters were Filipino, born there and moved to the USA as kids.  One of the other band members played with Jethro Tull.  Interesting band.  They were bigger in Europe than in the US, and headlined for bands on tour there.

How about Karla DeVito  Is This A Cool World or What?

She was the original voice on Meatloaf's Paradise by the Dashboard Light.  One album, one song.  Married to actor Robby Benson.

Great tune! One of my HS buddy's hot little sister was named Leah. Just heard this song on the classic rock station last week--hadn't heard it in a couple years.

Cool,

the girl I dated, her name was actually Lisa.

Hey Harry!!

You've come up with some good ones, that Zager & Evans song used to creep me out as a kid. :(

Yeah, I agree on the Zager and Evans song. It also creeped me out! Strange... :D

Drew, Great Song but the Shirelles were hardly a One Hit Wonder Group.

I know that, I was merely pointing out that the song had been introduced long before the cover version that was mentioned.

Sorry 'bout that Drew. I just got my daily exercise jumping to a conclusion without READING what you posted.

Well I think that whether or not someone was a one hit wonder, must differ geographically. Because I was a big Top 40 listener back in the 80's (in Florida) and I have never heard those other songs by the Call.

"Pop Goes the World" and "Hey Men" both did better on the charts here in Canada but as Rob says above, the "one hit wonder" thing is geogeaphic.

Take for example Dexies Midnight Runners. One hit in North America but 4 other top 10 songs in thier native U.K.
