The Junkman Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) One of those questions I see the answers to but promptly forget because.....well I don't need it. Well, now its my turn. What's the consensus for the best way to strip a Revell pre-painted body; in particular the newer 2014 Mustang GT kit? It comes with a kinda close representation of Ingot Silver with a blue stripe. I'd like to re-paint it in Grabber Blue with an over-the-top white stripe. (Hmm, any idea why?) I've got to do some parts swapping but painting is the biggest hurdle. 1930fordpickup Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 If you look in the Tips section I do believe this is a pined topic. Anyway If purple power degreaser or yellow cap Easy Off oven cleaner does not work try 91% Isopropyl Alcohol (this is what I use to strip the AMT prepainted Vicky) it may take a few days.
jefropas Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I've got the same project coming, gonna make an Indiana State Police Mustang GT...let me know how it goes... Jeff
High octane Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I would use the 91% Isoprophyl Alcohol as I've used it to strip a pre-painted Polar Lights body and it worked great!
Lunajammer Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 I wonder if you would do as well just scuffing the existing paint with fine grit sandpaper, priming and painting. My guess is the coloring on prepainted bodies is very thin and it's certainly smooth.
