landman Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) Hey Joe, John, Gator.. Thanks for the kind words. Edited December 22, 2015 by landman
landman Posted December 23, 2015 Author Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) I had lost one mirror, one hood hold-down handle and one windshield tie-down loop. Started scratchbuilding the missing parts. A bit crude but looking good from 3 feet away. Added the shock absorbers which I found looking for the missing mirror. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
landman Posted December 24, 2015 Author Posted December 24, 2015 (edited) Everything is on that needs to go on except the engine, steering column and skidpan. I think I have to add to the bottom of the hood latches. they must have broken off. Just got the word that the engine has been shipped. Should be able to put this under glass soon. gatorincebu Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Pat, Nice job on the fabrication. I think the parts gremlin was hanging out near your work bench. You know of course. That two months after you finish this one. you will find the missing parts. Or possibly some other parts that went missing from another build!!! lol Be Well Gator
landman Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) The motor has arrived. Will clean up well. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
landman Posted January 7, 2016 Author Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) The engine swap will require quite a bit of little mods. Removed the y-pipe from the exhaust system. Removed the A/C compressor from the drive belt arrangement. My Jeep didn't have it. Removed the auto trans from the six Removed the manual transmission and transfer case from the 304. Re-flanged the bell housing. Don't know why I separated the transfer case from the transmission. Lost the locating tabs in the process. Transferred it to the six. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
landman Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) I guess I'll never learn. I always finish too much before everything is fitted. Ah done it again!!!! I ended up having to take it half apart to test fit the engine which I had assumed would drop right in. What do they say again about assume???? The mods to the engine were the least. It just won't fit. Added motor mounts to the engine. Filed down the ones on the frame. Will need to trim the bottom center of the firewall and modify the rad support to mount it further forward. landman Posted January 9, 2016 Author Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Modified the firewall and the rad support. I should go in now. Had to file off the fuel pump so I made one out of what looks like a one pot master cylinder. Added an intake/discharge tube and turned it upside down. Looks like a fuel pump. Added goodies and color to the engine. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
landman Posted January 10, 2016 Author Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) Installed engine, exhaust pipe, fuel lines, battery cables. Put body back on and cowl on top. Now the cowl won't sit right I assume due to my playing with the firewall. It is staying there. Once I recieve the winch, I'll post it under glass. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
wayne swayze Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Looks good Pat ! Nice to have a model of a vehicle that you could drive around and enjoy.
gatorincebu Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Pat, I like what you did on this one. Even if you seem to be getting a bit frustrated! I think it all looks pretty good. Be Well Gator
landman Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Added the winch, winch mounting plate and painted the mirrors black. When I can take a good photo, I'll put it under glass. She's done. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
