SergeB Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi, Dan!Do you have a photo of the prototype with such a shortening of the bonnet? It would be interesting to look.
Mopar - D Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Thanks guys,Sergey here's the site that I'm using for my reference http://www.olddodges.com they have some history on the truck too.
Mopar - D Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Thanks Terry, that first picture has the exhaust details that I've been trying to figure out thanks. I knew where the stack supports were located but not how the pipes were routed from the engine to the stacks. And they look to be chrome to. Thanks
Jim B Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Looks like Dodge was trying to get some fleet work with a shorter hood truck. Like many of the manufacturers at the time. I have the Illini Replicas Dodge Bighorn, but i don't think I'm going to attempt this with it! Keep up the good work.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Those little stacks are cool, they just look plain tough !
junkyardjeff Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Its interesting that they used the late 50s cab up into the mid 70s.
Mopar - D Posted January 13, 2016 Author Posted January 13, 2016 Sean I'm going to go with the short stacks to. I also think it makes it look tough.
gatorincebu Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Dan, You are making some good progress on this one. I agree with you on the short stacks!! Makes the truck look bad aszz!!! Be Well Gator
Old Buckaroo Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Sean I'm going to go with the short stacks to. I also think it makes it look tough. Now that will be spectacular ! Edited January 13, 2016 by Old Buckaroo
HJK Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Hi Dan,the truck really looks gorgeous. I like it a lot with this stubby nose and the short stacks. Looks like a real power package. Can you please tell me, where did you get the hood ornament I can see in the picture of your yellow dump truck? Is it resin or white metal? Thanks for sharing.Cheers,Juergen
Mopar - D Posted January 14, 2016 Author Posted January 14, 2016 Juergen, the hood ornament is resin and came with the resin bighorn cab from Frontier resin. I also have one for this one to.
Superpeterbilt Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Its interesting that they used the late 50s cab up into the mid 70s.That cab was used on a bunch of FWD trucks also. There must have been a glitch at the Dodge factory and they made a couple thousand more cabs than they meant to.
Mopar - D Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Terry I was thinking the same thing.
Mopar - D Posted January 17, 2016 Author Posted January 17, 2016 Made a little progress with installing the engine and shorting the drive shaft. Also started the exhaust pipes going to the stacks. Currently spiltting my time with finishing up my Satelitte.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I cant wait to see the stacks you manufacture up for this. Getting closer - those pipes are almost there.
SergeB Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Hi, Dan!On this track, I would put the other tires. More relief. The more you have the opportunity. And this does not looks. IMHO.
Mopar - D Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Made some progress on the stacks. I'm going to use aluminum tubing for the pipes I have not cut them to length yet. I'm going to cut them off like in the picture Terry posted.
gatorincebu Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Dan, Real nice work thus far. I really like the things you've done on this build. Be Well Gator
