tubbs Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I have a Ford hemi from Ross Gibson, I would like to convert it to a Semi Hemi motor. are the heads the only difference on these motors and are they interchangeable? I only have the ford engine, if they are swappable, I may be looking for the semi hemi heads. I realize that may be a tall task.
Force Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 (edited) It depends on what Ford hemi it is...the only true hemi Ford did was the 427 SOHC with overhead cams and the "semi hemi" was the Boss 429.These engines are from two different engine familys, the 427 SOHC also called "cammer" is a FE based (332-428) and the 429 is a 385 family (429-460), the FE family has 4.63 inch bore spacing and the 385 family has 4.90 inches and these familys share nothing so you can't change the heads from one to the other in the real world. But these are models so you could probably make it work, it depends on how realistic you want to be. MeatMan Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Sounds like a major undertaking to me. You can buy the Revell Jukebox Ford kit for the motor a lot cheaper. I've seen some nice builds with that engine. I bought the kit just in case I wanted to use the engine at some point. As for buying another RG engine, I've had trouble locating then since he passed. I'm sure they are being hoarded to jack up the price.

There have been no RG engines made since he passed away. Ross had no extra stock and the retailers I know have all sold out. I do not think any more will be made
excrewchief Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 What ever happened to his molds and master plugs are they or were they for sale..
Howard Cohen Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Nothing has happened so far. The family is still thinking about what to do. There are several possibilities.
louie Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 It would be nice to know what has become of Ross Gibson and R&R's molds. Not that it's anyone's business but their families but it just out of how much that we miss and appreciated their work. Thank you. Jeff
