I like that floor! If you dont mind sharing I may use that on my 1/16 Pete instead of the veneer. It looks really good.

X ' s 2 The flooring looks great . What did you use for it ?

Thanks for the encouragement Rich and Gator!

I had been debating with myself whether to go with carpet or rubber mat or something else. Since the passenger seat actually sits on top of the dog house, I didn't want to go with vinyl or leather. I have seen hardwood in a few trucks and liked it.

The wood is made by K L MiniSports. I bought it from Dan's Models Plus (dans572012) on Ebay. It was $12.95 for an 8.5 x 11 sheet. The wood doesn't completely cover the sheet. It is pretty heavy paper and it is peel and stick. It was designed to be used as trailer floors.

I have used veneer before, but for me it is harder to make it look realistic, like individual planks, even after adding lines to it. It looks more like plywood.

Thanks Gino, Sam and Rob for all the encouraging words!

Thanks Dennis and Alain!!

How do you bend it?

Pat, let me begin by saying that I'm not a pro. I have tried many ways of bending pipe with not very good results. I've tried aluminum, both solid and hollow. I've tried plastic, both solid and hollow, with and without heat, but this way seemed to work the best so far.

I took a T-Lite candle from my wife's stash. With the T-Lite burning, I rotated the area that was to be bent over the flame like a rotisserie. I heated it slowly, not too close to the flame until the plastic was almost putty like. Bending the tube too soon before it is soft enough results in kinking. Once I achieved the angle that I was after, I held it still until it cooled enough to hold its shape. A few stubborn spots required sanding to make them look right. I was pretty satisfied with all four pipes on this build using this method. This may not be the best method, but it works until my wife runs out of candles. I hope this helps...Brian

It does.I used a match and melted mine.So I guess I have to take it easier.

The more you let a T-Lite burn down and "puddle", the smaller the flame gets and less heat is puts out. I've went the too much heat rout as well, and I'm sure that I will probably ruin more plastic in the future.

Thanks for the kind words as well Pat,  but when I look at your builds, I think that I may need to take some classes from you in Ontario.

Looking great Brian, I've seen pics of truck floors like this on my internet travels and thought that would be cool on a model.  There you go, really innovative and adds to the overall work your putting into this fine build.

Thanks for the comments Tom and Michael!!

Well I made a little progress. The passenger side tank has been made and mounted with straps. Battery box lids are made. I tried a different look on the deck. The first one that I made, was not acceptable, but I think that I'm going to keep this one.
