disabled modeler Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) I'll be watching! Does anyone know if theres a 66 bonneville or catalina available as a model? My Dad has a 66 pontiac ventura, so I need the "full size" pontiac, not the goat to build a model of it.Dave...Many years ago MPC made a 66 Bonneville kit and Hawsagawa made a curbside kit of it too and might be much easier to find...they both look great in my opinion...wish I had them too.I am still hoping someone got the 63 Tempest kit for the chassis and interior and engine...I need parts for a factory stock restoration. johnwitzke Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) Update.........the decals for all six of the 1963 LeMans 421 SD coupes now exist for the first time. This would have not been possible without the work of Rick Lucas from Decals by Lucas. Earlier this year I contacted Mr. Lucas with the crazy idea that I wanted to create decals for the original six 1963 Pontiac Lemans 421SD coupes. He agreed to help me out (for a fee of course). Mr. Lucas is very talented and created some fantastic custom made decals that I never thought would be possible. His work is second to none.Additionally, I have 4 of the 6 1963 Pontiac Tempest 421SD wagon decals with final two being worked on now. Once completed, all 6 of the wagon decals will exist for the first time. To see all 12 of the original 421 SD cars together along with the two prototype coupe should be really cool.I will post photos as I get the cars painted and decaled. gtx6970 Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 A few years back there was a 421 wagon at a high end show in Ault park in Cincinnati Ohio.I had heard the owner say it was the only one known to exist ,,If I remember right the car was white with blue interior with no race car markings of any kind . The car had a crowd around it every time I was there to get pics,,so I never took a single one all day . Big mistake as I didn't realize how unique this car was at the time.
johnwitzke Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 The car you probably seen was the Union Park Pontiac car. Original lettering on the car was "INSTANT". It is the only survivor of the original 6 wagons
10thumbs Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Hi John, this is a great project. The Pontiac cars were cool, and sounded real nasty when built, and they ran well. The look though from the early 60's cars you've posted are really great to see again. I like this project.
johnwitzke Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 My plan is to build three coupes together, Stan Long Pontiac, Wynn Engineering and Superior Pontiac first, along the Mickey Thompson #755 prototype Bodies are being prepped now and as soon as the weather warms, they will be primed and painted the factory color Cameo Ivory and Yorktown Blue for the prototype.
noname Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 These Tempest Bodies (coupe and wagon) are among my all time favorite 60s drag cars. They all look good regardless of paint.
