gatorincebu Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 Pat , You are making awesome progress. The cab height looks great. And your motor and exhaust look cool! Be Well Gator
landman Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Shortened the frame by about 28". Playing with configurations. Still debating about a single inboard stack or double outboards. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
Old Buckaroo Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Pat - this is really taking shape , I am surprised you did not make this a single axle.I addressed your questions over on my thread that you asked. Edited January 19, 2016 by Old Buckaroo
gatorincebu Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Pat, You are making good progress and what you've done thus far looks pretty good ! I like the fact that you have kept it as a twin screw. Be Well Gator
landman Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Sean, Gator, I kept it tandem because all the car haulers I see here are. I remember seeing some single drive tractors on car haulers but haven't seen any in a long time. Now, having said this, I'll likely see one tomorrow. Edited January 19, 2016 by landman
Chu Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I love your built and is a good school for me to, thanks or shearing to us.
Mopar - D Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Nice progress Pat so are you hinting that your going to have a car hauler trailer behind it?
landman Posted January 20, 2016 Author Posted January 20, 2016 Nice progress Pat so are you hinting that your going to have a car hauler trailer behind it? Yes. The first hint was in the first post.
Canso65 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 You're moving right along Pat. I sure do like the choice you have made modelling a Dodge.
landman Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) A little bit of engineering and a whole bunch of "figgerin'" and "fiddlin'". Worked on the air duct until it pretty well goes where it should. Would be easier with an open hood. Drilled some recesses in the wheels to accept the axle stubs. Extended the driveshaft using the magic sleeve method. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
Old Buckaroo Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Extended the driveshaft using the magic sleeve method. Rockwell U-joints moto is slip it on before you stab it in gear ! That is my traveling yoke for the day You are the only person I know that can shorten the frame and Still have to extend the driveshaft - how does that happen ? Nice work on the air intake pipe , that had to be a time consuming challenge.
landman Posted January 21, 2016 Author Posted January 21, 2016 You are the only person I know that can shorten the frame and Still have to extend the driveshaft - how does that happen ? Nice work on the air intake pipe , that had to be a time consuming challenge. My mistake, I actually shortened it. The intake pipe was what all the figgerin' was about.
gatorincebu Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Pat, Looking good here. You know I don't ever remember seeing a single screw tractor pulling a portable parking lot either. And I think your Dodge looks tough as a twin screw!! Be Well Gator
landman Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) Since the fan is not attached to the engine it needed to be attached to the rad. The exhaust supports were attached to the pieces of frame I had cutoff, relocated them to a spot just behind the cab. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
Old Buckaroo Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Great idea on the fan, I really like the bracket and bolt heads. This frame is starting to remind me of that "Johnny Cash" song - "One piece at a time"
landman Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) Hope my truck doesn't wind up looking like his car. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
Tesla Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Nice fan modification and not to worry...you're truck will never resemble that car!
landman Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Decided to go with twin stacks. Used the kit's crosspiece and extended the headers. Not the neatest but it'll have to do. Installed dechromed battery box. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
landman Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Has anyone ever converted a snap front axle to poseable steering?
Petetrucker07 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 You are definitely not letting any dust collect on this. Look good man. For the axle, I think, not positive, Sean may have done that, maybe not on a snapper axle, but another non posable one.
Mopar - D Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Pat your making great progress I like how you have the exhaust pipes set up.
landman Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) Cobbled up a rad hose. Edited December 29, 2020 by landman
