landman Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Pat this is so cool I'm glad you decided to cut it up its looking great. All is not well though. Now that the front end is gone, there is nothing to hold the front of the cab up. I,Lloyd have to get the interior supported from the bottom for everything to line up.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Wow! I'm really impressed!! I don't think that I would have been brave enough to take on all that hinging. It looks great!! Nice work!!
jacobus Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 the interior is greatthe open hood and fenders is also great worksure follow this onejacobus
Tesla Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 I'm glad that you hinged the fenders. The hinges you selected are perfect!
landman Posted March 26, 2016 Author Posted March 26, 2016 (edited) Working on the alignment issues. The hood shutline is irregular (somebody was too aggressive with the saw), one fender won't close and the front of the cab droops. Discovered that the rad isn't square with the frame, so I shimmed it in position & drilled holes to install two locating pins. This way, it should go into place with the minimum of fuss. Added putty to the leading edge of the cowl. Started adding stuff to the firewall for visual interest. Only the V10's ECU is authentic. Edited December 30, 2020 by landman

10thumbs Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Really some meticulous work going on here, compliments.
landman Posted March 27, 2016 Author Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) All this cutting and putting back together had an undesirable side effect. I suspect the location of the hinges on the grille created a gap between the trailing edge of the fender and the cab, necessitating moving the cab ahead. This left the wheels in the wrong location inside the fenders. So I cheated and moved the axle ahead too. Just don't tell anyone. The fuse block/junction box looked silly without wires so I added some. While this and the putty was drying on the body, I started looking at the stacks. I think I'll make a small headache rack to support them. These are the very tall stacks from the Snap kit. I'm tempted tp plagiarize Dan and go with short ones. But then again, this truck will pull a trailer full of valuable classics. Perhaps the tall stacks will prevent "soiling" of the cars. What do you guys think? Edited December 30, 2020 by landman
Mopar - D Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Pat looking good your moving right along on this. As for your stacks it's going to be up to to decide if you want the tuff look of the practical look with a car transporter. I've seen some of the older car haulers that had short stacks tha turned out instead of straight up. Either way it's going to be a cool looking rig.

Tesla Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 You're cruising right along! Good call on the firewall details.
gatorincebu Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 You're cruising right along! Good call on the firewall details. X's 2 I agree one hundred percent with Dennis . Be Well Gator
landman Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) Little stuff tonight. Exhaust stack support, rain caps, quarter fenders, turn signals, rear mudgards. All of it will need touch ups of course. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
landman Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 (edited) I thought I'd be just about ready to prime the cab today, but nooo....I had to add something else. An attempt at the cowl side grilles. Micromesh, wire & half round. Now I've succeeded in giving myself a few more hours of puttying & sanding. Edited December 31, 2020 by landman
