69NovaYenko Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I have to attach a resin part to a turned aluminum part. I was wondering is C.A. glue the best option or is there a better chose.
Harry Joy Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 I use CA for almost everything, but Cato speaks the truth. CA will not hold resin to aluminum for long.
aurfalien Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) For that kind of application, I'm happy using 5 min epoxy from the Zap-A-Gapp pplz. They call it Z-Poxy. Edited January 21, 2016 by aurfalien
astroracer Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) Also be aware. A good Cyanoacrylate will work as long as the surfaces are not to smooth. Give the parts a good sanding if you can and the CA will hold better. Be careful with the CA and aluminum, the vapors from the CA will tarnish or fog the bare aluminum. I found that a little car wax on the aluminum is enough to protect it from the vapors. leave it on until the glue is set then buff it out.Mark Edited January 22, 2016 by astroracer
