Here is a kit I started several years ago that I decided to finish up.

For a basic kit, it sure needed a lot of work on a few things.

This particular kit has a lifted suspension(poorly designed blocks at the frame), and when AMT lifted it, they did not include correct length drivelines, and the front shocks fitment was terrible. The brush guard is shaped for the headlights of the 73-79 grill. The rollbar leans way forward if not modified. The cab to bed spacing is still not to my satisfaction, and those horrible molded in grooves in the bed. Ohh, and the darn hood is warped just a little and every attempt to fix it now is making the hood scoop cutout lines on the underside show through.

I knew of a few of these issues when I started it and fixed several of them.

I have another one of these to build someday. Maybe I will fix the little things that bugged me about this one.

Me too, Mine is an 84 K20.

Brian....that is cool buddy....mines a K10 or 1500 series...supposed to be GM med. metallic blue...right now its different colors needs a bed in the worst way for one with dual tanks and no trim or the stick on type. 53,200 miles on it.

Great job! I agree that this kit, while nice to have for the '81-'87 sheetmetal, is pretty poor in some areas. Another thing to mention is the wheels and tires, which if I had to guess came from one of the 1/20 kits, since they seem much bigger than 15-16" wheels.

It's the AMT '84 GMC kit, which had a blue truck on the box in it's most recent iteration. However, before you go looking for a kit on ebay, know that the kit is going to be rereleased in the near future!
