Raul_Perez Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) Ok, so it's a "little" late and the full page color ad for the NNL West is for a show long past come and gone...I'm always thankful when I get a new issue in the mail. Thanks, Gregg, for another great issue. Regards, Edited March 30, 2008 by Raul_Perez
RodneyBad Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Better late than Never? I pick it up from my LHS to give me an excuse to visit and yet, I never come home empty handed
Raul_Perez Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 ...I pick it up from my LHS to give me an excuse to visit and yet, I never come home empty handed I can relate to that... I only buy models from eBay that I can't get from the LHS. We need to keep those guys in business. Way too many of them are disappearing.

Way too many of them are disappearing. That's my thought. when I walk into one of the LHS. I will buy a kit or something. Even if it takes a while to find that something or other. Bad thing is. I can walk into 3 in one day. (I drive all over for a living) Whooops
Billy Kingsley Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 The most recent one I've got has Mark Hadley's off road Ford on the cover....Is that the newest one? I don't get to the hobbyshop often, luckily he holds one for me. I've chosen NOT to subscribe just to help out the local shop-always looking for the new issue pretty much ensures I'll go there and spend some money...
Clay Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I should have looked for it at HL when I went yesterday. I looked at Hobbytown USA but I didnt see any model car magazines.
george 53 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Clay, It probly want thar anywho,The lil hawaiian dude aint made it that far east it yet!
Nick F40 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) You know what's funny, my RC magazine, the last issue was labeled May or June, and it's only the March issue, and Model Cars latest is Jan? Just kiddin with ya Gregg! Edited March 30, 2008 by Nick F40
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 The January issue is "a little" late...but there's good news. The December hard drive crash is ancient history and progress is being made to get your favorite modeling mag back on schedule. In fact, the Feb./March Contest Issue is at the printer as we speak, and the April issue is approx. 75% done! Hopefully production will be fully back on schedule with the April issue. Lots of changes in store..."new and improved", as the saying goes. Look for an April issue like you've never seen before! Stay tuned...

I think many of us have met Gregg at some time and know that he and his “crew†are not some humongous, corporate entity that we’d never consider forgiving for being late with an issue of a magazine. At the same time, I think we equally enjoy being able to give him a hard time for being late…kind of like you would a family member. So, Gregg, take it all in stride, do what you can to get back on track and know that the majority of us still fully support and appreciate your efforts. Yes, MCM IS a great magazine. Period.
Billy Kingsley Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I thought you guys had dropped the month and gone over to just numbers? That is so much better, in easier to track and find stuff then months...
oldcars Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I thought you guys had dropped the month and gone over to just numbers? That is so much better, in easier to track and find stuff then months... Hey Billy. Gregg has you covered. He puts the number and a month both on the covers. The January issue is #129.
Joe Nunes Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Just got my Jan '08 issue today by mail. Used to get MCM at the LHS. Started a subscription, waited for the first issue to arrive, and, when it did...the back of the magazine was ripped at the top and the bottom. GEEEEEEZ!!! Not too sure about this mail thing...
Raul_Perez Posted April 4, 2008 Author Posted April 4, 2008 Just got my Jan '08 issue today by mail. Used to get MCM at the LHS. Started a subscription, waited for the first issue to arrive, and, when it did...the back of the magazine was ripped at the top and the bottom. GEEEEEEZ!!! Not too sure about this mail thing... It sounds like your mailman got a good look between the covers before you did!!
Joe Nunes Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Raul, I think you may be onto something there...little does he know the results of his sneaky ways. Soon he'll be HOOKED, and want to build models...and there will be many, many, trips to the LHS...and money will seem to "disappear" mysteriously from his wallet...and, Lord help him...he'll want to get his OWN MCM SUBSCRIPTION!! Hey, all is not lost though...while looking at the Jan. '08 cover, there on the Modified, was a sponser...Bert's Glass from Ionia, MI. Don't know Bert but I grew up in Ionia and graduated high school there in '68. Was neat to see that small town name on the cover of a big 'ole International type magazine. Go Bulldogs!!
cruz Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 I just got mine in the mailbox yesterday, that centerfold is beaut.... Oh sorry, wrong mag.!!! Pretty interesting issue Gregg, thanks!!!!
george 53 Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Guys, what Road apple says aint no joke! last year after gettin my mags later than normal I went down to my local P/O an complained to the boss down there, they actually called me back a few days later an told me they had the latest issue there! turns out someone HAD read it an dint put it in the bin to be delivered! They appologised like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar! told me it wouldnt happen again an did I want to file a formal complaint with the post master general! Never being one to mess with the brass ,I let it slide cas I dint feel a mag was worth someone maybe gettin a reprimand or worse.I just wanted my mag.Jus like now.I'm tempted to kick the lil hawiian dudes butt, but then maybe next time he wont come atall! besides it COULD still be at the P/O!If anyone sees the lil hawiian dude out there, let him know I aint mad, just anxious!
Joe Nunes Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 George...you KNOW how it is with those "little pineapple guys" over there on the island...What with all that glorious sunshine, and those Hula girl types on the sandy beaches, and those tall pineapple drink thingies, and coconuts just waiting to be opened, and driving those new wheels around...and Hula girls...and Hula girls...well, you DO know how it is...
Clay Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Clay, It probly want thar anywho,The lil hawaiian dude aint made it that far east it yet! Well maybe that little Hawaian dude should drop off some copies while he is over here for the NNL East.
george 53 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Clay,Different lil hawaiian dude. But since I know Gregg will be there maybe he'll have a coupla mags on hand.Hey he might even be able to talk with the lil hawaiian dude an get him on the ball! I think by now though his legs will be just as tired as his arms after all that walkin.check out Raul's thread "Hats off to Harry",Mar.30th to see wat were talkin about
george 53 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 OH, it's under General topics 2nd page about 1/2 way down, and I'm with Roadapple,WHAT is a menehune?
Gregg Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 George, send me a letter addressed to the mag at my email on the post office incident. Little Hawaiian history/folk lore I guess the easiest way to explain menehune is to relate them to the leprechaun's of English lore. They are similar, maybe only in size. They are not fun, prankster-style myths, but a deep-set belief of the Hawai'i people They are protectors of a lot of sacred lands here, and the base of many legends Have I seen a Menehune? Yes, and I wasn't drunk. And remember, there is no S in the Hawai'i language, and such, there is no plural of any Hawai'i name or phrase. there are only 13 letters in the Hawai'i "alphabet" Now, where was I???????
