cobraman Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Been interested in building one of these. Can someone recommend which kit would be worthwhile ? Thanks
Matt Bacon Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Both the Heller/Union and Fujimi kits are pretty good. Which one can you find cheapest...?bestest,M.
Crazy Ed Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 The Heller/Union is a Full Detail while the Fujimi is a Curbside. Although I donot have a Fujimi 330 here, I do have their 917 and Unions. So using them I'd say the Fujimi has the better body and although needing work to be "Correct" the H/U version has the shortest path to a full detail build.
afx Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 (edited) I don't own the Heller/Union but I have seen it. I do own the Fujimi. That should tell you which kit I prefer. And if you do want to go the full detail route HRM offers a very nice trans-kit to build-out the Fujimi. Edited March 7, 2016 by afx
cobraman Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 Thank guys. I don't care if it's full detail as I am going to install a V8 flathead. Just kidding : )
Crazy Ed Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Hummmmmmm, Flathead V8 with a Scott Blower................
Lizard Racing Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Many years ago, AMT made a combo Ferrari P4 and Porsche 907. The Ferrari has pretty good detail, the Porsche not so much. I still have the Ferrari. The P4 was the best looking of the beautiful Ferraris.
afx Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Don't get me wrong the Heller/Union isn't a bad kit, I just think the Fujimi kit captures the shape of the body better. I also prefer the wheels/tires in the Fujimi kit.
cobraman Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 Thanks again guys. I think I will hunt down the Fujimi kit. Just love the look of that car. I will still always be Cobraman and never Ferrariman ! : )

Really makes this kit pop when using it. It's a blessing to have Historic Racing Miniatures as a member of the club!

cobraman Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Thank you ! My search only showed red ones. I like the green one. I think it's green, I'm partly colorblind and have some trouble with some colors. Again, thanks for taking the time to reply.
Greg Myers Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I think it's the pictures that make things more interesting. You know, a 1000 words.
Matt Bacon Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Depends whether you want a real, in-period 330P or not... The green one above is a David Piper rebuild "continuation" model that didn't exist in period, and the yellow one is an Ecurie Francorchamps Ferrari 412P... which is much the same but you'll need to tweak the engine.bestest,M. Lizard Racing Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Really, should Ferraris be anything but red?
Greg Myers Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Back in the day racing cars (performance cars) were mandated to be a certain color, i.e. "British Racing Green". http://gutenberg.us/articles/list_of_international_auto_racing_colors
cobraman Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 Found the kit I selected on ebay. I guess I will go with the red. It's not like I don't like the red I just don't like to do the same old same but in this case I think red would be best. Now, which red ?? : )
Matt Bacon Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) There are only four 330P4s (as was) in existence. You want a 1967 "Rosso Corsa":Scale FinishesZero PaintsGravitybestest,M. Edited March 10, 2016 by Matt Bacon
