Monty Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 (edited) What's the best way to detail these things so they look as accurate as possible?http://s1067.photobucket.com/user/MemestreamMedia/media/70Chevelle rear marker lights_zpsbh18ewnr.jpg.html?sort=3&o=6 Edited March 13, 2016 by Monty
Tom Geiger Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I don't know the tail light you are working with. If it's red clear, wrap it in Bare Metal Foil and then pick up the colors with fine Sharpie Pens. I used a white paint pen for the back up lights. If the tail light is molded in the chrome bumper, you can skip the BMF step.
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I'm pretty sure you're talking about those marker lights on the rear quarter, correct? Those could be a challenge, but I think I would try just using acrylics.Paint the louvered part body color & then maybe some silver acrylic for the reflector, followed by some clear acrylic tinted with a little red for the lens. The reason I would use acrylic paint is obviously because it would be easy to clean any excess from the louvers with some water to avoid damaging the paint. oldnslow Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 another option would be to sand out the rear of the marker until it opened up and put clear red behind it.
