Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Built this one yesterday afternoon. Started as prepainted AMT '62 Catalina Custom I was planning to repaint in a cool green color and turn into a nice '60s custom, with a Ford engine, lowered suspension, baby moon hubcaps and wide whites. Like when I got the model it was incomplete and had many broken parts, this is what I ended doing with it. Turned it into a gasser style hybrid with parts from my parts box!!! The finished product looks almost like the hero car from a '60s Japanese monster series, with that spotlights installed on the fenders to represent GT mirrors, and that are there just to hide the fact the fender ornaments were not a part of the thing I got as a complete car from local evil-Bay... Yes, I already put a negative on the seller. Maybe now he will answer my messages... Donat ever buy anything from a guy called Collectingtoys... bobthehobbyguy Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Nice work. Bummer that the kit wasn't complete but nice save.
wayne swayze Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Cool save Tulio! Imagine...a FORD powered PONTIAC!! That's just unheard of. I like it for that reason!
THarrison351 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Wow! NASCAR truck arm suspension and leaf springs. No wheel hop there. I used that same pro shop kit to build a Joe Weatherly stock car. Great looking gasser.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 Thanks guys. I just couldn't get myself to toss the poor car in the bin. To build it as I first wanted, I would have to rob parts from one of my sealed kits, that I want to build into stock Catalinas in the future.Oh well, up to the next one...
Mike 1017 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 Tulio Very, very, very nice, Like your paint jobMike
