MachinistMark Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 This is the start to some scratch built fuel tanks for itI'll machine some end caps for it from bar stock to for inside the tubing and tig weld them on them machine the welds off smooth and polish them. I'll laser cut some .020 stainless straps for them and machine some filler necks from bar stock as well.
MachinistMark Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Drew up some tank mounting brackets to go along with the tanks im building. .078 wall 1 " of al tubing with .125 " thick machined end caps not sure yet if I will tig weld them on or just super glue them and polish the seams. I'll try and post some pictures later.
SpreadAxle Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 You've done some nice work so far. Excellent work on the metal parts you've made. The engine work looks great, too.
gatorincebu Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Looking real good thus far! Be Well Gator
MachinistMark Posted November 4, 2016 Author Posted November 4, 2016 Some new bits, exhaust brackets for cab and running boards to go on the tanks. Made them to mimic that expanded mesh grating you often see
MachinistMark Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 Thanks for the kind words everyone. Soon I'll actually dig the kit back out and do some more actual work on it now that car and gun season (summer) is over lol
MachinistMark Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Did a bit more tonight Flocked the floor of the cab and started detailing the dash
MachinistMark Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 12 hour day at work yesterday so no progress to report today but tonight I hope to get the interior finished up and maybe some primer on the cab and wrecker body
Chariots of Fire Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Mark: Give some thought to using aluminum tubing for the hydraulic cylinders. By using telescoping tubing you can easily make the assembly so that the piston end of it moves in and out nicely. Here's one I did as an example.
MachinistMark Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 That is one idea I've had rattling around and the other was to use actual solid round bar to machine them.
MachinistMark Posted November 21, 2016 Author Posted November 21, 2016 One step forward... 2 steps back. The step forward is I got theInjector lines finished...the step back is my airbrush has stopped working properly frustrating since it worked fine last week (it's new to me my first dual action brush a badger 150) one head won't spray at all just bubbles in the jar. The other head will spray but only in pulses. I'm going to try to get another head this week as I think the nozzle is junk in the bubbles one.
MachinistMark Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 Got back at this thing. Interior more or less finished up.
kilrathy10 Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Looking pretty awesome, so far......Great job on that bumper, and the engine looks amazing....
