RestoModGuy Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Built this Custom Showcar Restomod last summer. Lot's of customizing on this one. This was a really fun build and only my third build after not building in almost 40 years. Molded in front and rear bumpers - Front air-dam - rear valance with custom quad exhaust system - increased the rear lip spoiler - modified the twin-door scoops to a single 1970 version - and my favorite is the twin air scoop on the hood with the custom engine compartment surround.
GTJUNIOR Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Creative custom touches on your Charger. Very nice work.
Harry P. Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Nice custom work. But I have to admit I don't get the point of that "inner hood."
espo Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Like all of the ground effects and the hood intakes. I kind of agree with the engine cover, I think it hides the detail work on the engine. Very nice paint and the wheels really show off the disc brakes.
Rider Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Wow! When you have skills you have skills no matter how long you've been away from the bench. Way to go bro, welcome back to the model building tribe.
RestoModGuy Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Nice custom work. But I have to admit I don't get the point of that "inner hood."Appreciate the comment, the idea of the engine cover is based on what I see on many show cars now is a formed bodywork approach to the engine bay. It also serves as the integral cold-air intake. I like it and think it added another custom dimension to the Custom Show car direction I was going with this one. It is removable of course to show details, but I didn't photograph that as I intend to show it with it on.
RestoModGuy Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Thanks everyone for the comments, I guess its the reason we all post our builds in the first place.
olschoolkid Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Wow! That is an amazing build. I especially like the hood and engine compartment.
crazyrichard Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 very cool idea's !! styling looks great and that hood is awsome !!one thing would have completed it , if you would have shaved the moldings on the front window and made the glass so it looked like modern glass , glued ...

Actually I was going to do that but rushed to paint, this was a build-off challenge with limited time
Jon Cole Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Jim, this one is rock solid awesome! Great styling touches especially to the front and back. The under hood mods just reflects what the 1:1 manufacturers are doing. Not unusual at all.
geewhiz Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Gorgeous build and I love the engine cover!!! The whole package looks modern and up to date with current custom show car design!!! You nailed it, Jim!!!????????
