JollySipper Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Forgive me if this isn't the proper place to ask...... I was looking around on Round2's website, and found that Polar Lights is releasing a Headless Horseman figure......Is this something new? Does anyone have any info on it? Never seen one before, kind of excited that they are coming out with it..............Thanks for any discussion........!
Agent G Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 It's nice, to a degree. It's a re pop of the "Sleepy Hollow" horseman from the 1999 Tim Burton movie. That in itself was a re tool of an earlier Headless Horseman based on the Disney movie from way back when. I built the kit two years ago after having it sit in the stash since abut '99-'00. Poor fit and seams galore, not to mention the shaggiest fur ever seen molded on a horse. It can be made to look good, if you like a challenge. I'm at work now but I'll post pics later tomorrow. Danno's seen the final outcome and knows what all it took to build it. I'm sure he could chime in on it.G
Agent G Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Actually I posted this a while back. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/81052-headless-horseman/G
JollySipper Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 G, yours turned out awesome! I can't wait to get one for myself..........
Agent G Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Primer shots. This weighed entirely too much. So I made my own. Like I said, it takes some work, but it does look nice when completed. G
sfhess Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Then of course there's the horseless headman........(Sorry I couldn't resist)
JollySipper Posted April 29, 2016 Author Posted April 29, 2016 Thank you for the WIP pics, Agent G! It looks like it took some work to get the horse smoothed out some............
Agent G Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I used about half a tube of Bondo's "Spot Putty" thinned with liquid cement and a lot of sanding to smooth out that horses coat. I left some texture just because. I still feel this kit was worth the extra effort as it ust looks so darn good when done. It's a joy to paint as well.G
Sledsel Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Very cool. Glad it was posted here or I had never seen it
