This started out as a box stock build. Then it got a life of its own. Quite a few of the parts came out of my parts box. Tires/Wheels/Hub Caps/Glass Pak Mufflers/Tach/FI System/Seat Belts.  I used aluminum tube for the exhaust and rear sway bar.

I mixed Wicked Colors Red Pear with Pearlx Gold. The Testors Gloss Coat was contaminated. When it dried it was like Dullcoat. Since it is a sleeper I left the paint as it is.

The engine is a 289 with aluminum heads the FI system came from Speed City Resin. My I idea was to put a race built Shelby engine into a base 2+2 Mustang. Ready to drag race or road race

That's cool and nicely done. Not totally sleepy, tho. The hood pins and side exhaust kinda give it away.:D The engine looks awesome, got any close-ups?

Steel wheels or mismatched would really say "sleeper". I like the paint. I like the backdrop you have, what is it?

Maybe remove the hub caps. Paint the front wheel black and the rears red?
