Using Sealer

Does anyone use  a sealer after your done sanding and priming, like when your ready to apply your color if so what kind works. Thanks guys.

Chris, just speaking for myself, no sealer. The color coat should have something to bite into, and if you put a sealcoat(clear of any finish)on the car, you should scuff it up before the color coat, so that would be a wasted step.

Future makes a good barrier under any type of paint.

In more than 40 years doing stuff, I've yet to find the need for sealer on real cars or models.

I've airbrushed PPG automotive sealer before lacquer top coats with no regret. - it's makes a barrier so the lacquer does not harm the plastic - finer grain/texture and less thickness than primers like Plasti-Kote gray T-235 - straight from the can, no sanding before color coats, and quick drying.

Me neither. Except of course for primer to protect the plastic from "hot" paints, but I consider that a different subject.

I just used 2 coats of Future on a Bondo spot on a fully painted panel. Complete hiding and no issues. Panel looks perfect now.

It may be 'wrong' but I use what I recommend.

I've heard of using a sealer to keep red or yellow plastic from bleeding through, but never tried it.
