I recently picked up this very nice '60 Lincoln on ebay for a good price & I think I may get started on it.

My '65 Fury is still up in the air, & while I'm moving along on my '62 Chrysler convertible, That one may stall at some point also.

While I already had the chrome for the Chrysler re-plated by Chrome Tech, I'm thinking that I may have it redone by Kustom Khrome after seeing the beautiful results that they achieve.

The stuff from Chrome Tech really doesn't look all that great in comparison, & I already separated the grille from the bumper for a better fit & it wouldn't hurt to have it re-plated.

Anyway, I have several of these Lincolns, so I have a ton of parts, plus I had chrome parts re-plated many years ago when Chrome Tech's stuff seemed to look much better.

After bathing over night in Super Clean, she's ready to go.

I'm leaving the roof on this one for fear of breaking vent posts or A-pillars if I try to remove it.

I'm thinking of going with a darker metallic green on this one.

Yet another very nice project on your bench, Steve! Very unusual subject, it looks to be a very nice example too! I'll be watching this one also.

A nice clean example, looking forward to progress. I love these massive land-yachts!

I just got the chrome redone on my '60 convertible and I have a '59 hardtop - which I'll probably never build, but nice to have.

I have a '60 convertible as well as another hardtop.

I also have a '59 hardtop.

I will probably build the '59 at some point, but if I build this '60, I'll have to make a decision as to what to do with the other 2.

I'll be interested to see how you deal with the little nick at the rear edge of the trunk - probably the body was attached to a runner and simply broken off during production.

Mine has this too and it seems like a tricky problem, the plastic being so thin in this area. I'll let you deal with it first and follow suit ;).

All three of mine have that as well.

Nothing much you can do with it other than either a little filler, or cutting a slice out & replacing it.

I'll try the putty route first and if that doesn't look like it will work, than a bit more extensive surgery may be in order.

That sounds excellent, and should make a dramatic difference from that dull brown.

Speaking of a darker metallic green - I love this box illustration:

Actually, that box art is where my inspiration for the color came from.

I'm not a fan at all of dark greens but I liked the look of the one on the '59 Box & I happen to have a late 50s Mopar color called "Ivy Green" that I think might look nice.

Steve,

That is going to be sharp. The Dark Green will give it an elegant look.

I started fooling around with my '60 Convertible, but has since put it back in the box to work on later. I have to rework the trunk area to get a better fit. A friend of mine's Dad had a '60 convertible that was white, with a dark red interior. The model I have was built up in white, with a red and white interior. I am going to change it over to Black, with a Black and White interior, one I fix the trunk, and re-contour the windshield header to remove the lip.

I think some form of Burgundy would be killer too.

I agree that a Burgundy would look nice Kevin.

I've just been doing too many dark red builds lately.

Time to try something different. ;)

Just thinking out loud here, Steve. Green will be awesome. Heck, pretty much whatever you choose will be awesome, I'm sure.

Lincoln did have a very nice dark green in '60, and I think it would look great.

There was a solid dark tan interior available that would look nice. Testors tan with a couple of drops of white would about get it.

There was also a dark green interior, featuring white bolsters, and that would be very nice. I'd suggest a Testors Beret Green with a little lighter green mixed in and a drop or two of white would get the flavor. The dash was a bright dark metallic green- I'd suggest 1:1:2 Beret Green, Gloss white and Gloss green (to brighten the darker green,) with a toothpick worth of aluminum for the metallic.

Thanks Charlie.

I was kind of leaning towards the tan myself.

I'm really not much of a fan of tan for interiors, but in certain circumstances, it just seems to be the "best" alternative.

The Lincoln was as high end as you could get, so it only seems fitting that it should have a tan leather interior with the green paint.

The '62 Chrysler I'm working on is kind of in the same arena.

To me it just looks like it "should" have a tan interior.

I'm confident that I'll be doubly tired of tan interiors by the time I finish those two up. :P

This is the only photo that I could find of a '60 Lincoln in "Deerfield Green".

I'm not sure if the color that I have is this dark, but I'm not entirely sure that I would want it that dark anyway.

Yes I agree that Deerfield  is a little dark but it does look rich. I'm planning on doing my 'vert in something similar to Killarney Green  but it will probably be a mild custom anyway

I'll be watching your progress with great interest.

This is going to be another very interesting project as you do excellent work with these Factory Stock classics! Green would be a good color choice for this one. Here's a picture of one '59 or '60 Lincoln I saw at local Cruising Night a couple of years ago... Very nice and factory stock. I think that color is pretty much spot on:
