Cummins1212 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Starting my new project, the ultra rare tridrive and a kit bashed lowboy for the pay hauler, wheels and tire will be a mix of moebius and italeri
gatorincebu Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Looks like a great project to follow. As I have two of the tridrive trucks, the lowboy and 11 of the Pay Hauler. So to say the least I am interested to see what you do on this one.    Be Well    Gator
Superpeterbilt Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Cool project. Funny thing thing is, thats pretty much exactly the plans for my tri-drive KW coe also.Â
Cummins1212 Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 The tridrive will be getting a stretch and a scratchbuilt tag axle added, haven't decided on a color scheme yet but I'm afraid of the kit decals being too far gone to use so I'll probably tape off some stripes for it
Cummins1212 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Picked a color scheme for the tridrive, hope I can get started on this today
Cummins1212 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Made some progress on the 3 axle jeep, good use of a lowboy kit
Mopar - D Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Nice detail this is a cool build looking forward to seeing more progress.Â
Cummins1212 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Jeep is almost ready for paint and detailing, still need to put the rest of the wheel ends together. Frame stretch is done frame is almost ready to start plumbing air lines and hydraulic lines
gatorincebu Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016          You've done quite a bit of work on that. You have it looking pretty good ! Will be watching for further updates.          Be Well          Gator
Tesla Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Modifying the lowboy kit to a jeep is a great idea! Â I'm looking forward to this ambitious project.
Cummins1212 Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 It's gonna be a lengthy build lots of modifying  going on with this one, here's the wheel end mock up
gotnitro? Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Fantastic work going on so far!! If I may ask a rookie question, whats the purpose of the jeep? I'm assuming weight distribution for larger loads, but never being around the truck hauling field, I wanted to learn more.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Cool project! Great work so far! Man you work fast!
Cummins1212 Posted August 11, 2016 Author Posted August 11, 2016 Jeff: the jeep along with the pusher behind the low boy are exactly that, weight distribution. The jeep takes most of the pin load leaving the tractor tasked with moving the rolling weight. In a application like this the tri drive is more for traction under heavy load, it's much easier to transmit 1500+ ft lbs through 3 ring gears with two power dividers rather than 2 ring gears with one power divider, the tag in its location in front of the drives would take weight off the front axle and help keep the drive axles from slipping
gotnitro? Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks that makes perfect sense w the gears and power dividers..something I hadn't considered.
GearUpJammer Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Great progress, this is going to be a cool build!
Cummins1212 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 Haven't made a ton of progress it's been triple digits around here all week and after I get home from turning wrenches on 1:1 rigs the motivation just isn't there, started running air lines and got the 475 put together, still have to plumb it and add a light wash to it. Started on the interior as well
72 Charger Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Wow now that's a project. I love the K 100 and the work your doing to the Lowboys. Nice work on the engine too
