mangodart
Hi guys, Back with a new built, something "different" for a change, a 84 Dodge Daytona. This kit is the one from MPC, built box stock. I only ad some decals form scale motorsport for the seats. Paint is from Tamiya ref TS92 on a silver paint. We have forget how good these MPC kits were, very good details and very nice overall line, I remember at the time I was more with the Monogram kits because they were easier to build but finally those MPC models are more detailed. Inspiration is from a TV show I was looking at when I was a kid : Rick Hunter. It was the car of the nice woman called Dee Dee Mc Call for the who remember. I've always liked these little Dodge, there were very potent car. I have a souvenir with one of these, it was around 86/87, I was in south Germany for working in a school learning job, and I was doing a lot of hitchhiking at the time, one of my favorite "occupation" was to look at some of the US soldier which were at the bases around, and try to catch one... And for once, a US soldier took me for a ride in a.... Dodge Daytona TurboZ, what a car, I was very impressed at the time by the power and how fast it was !!!! Well here it is and I hope you'll like it

iBorg
Nice build of a car that I was happy to own. While an Escort was my first new car, a Daytona was the first car I bought for myself. LOVED that car. I'd love to drive one again and see if it is as nice as I remember.I noticed the interior. That checkerboard pattern was a signature of the first couple of model years. Are the decals in the kit? Edited August 8, 2016 by iBorg

Mike C
Thanks, in the MPC kit you have parts to build a very close version of the Laser !!! Actually, I had built that kit back in the 80's trying to replicate the Lazer I had at the time. I wasn't as good a model builder back then. I no longer have the car of course and I eventually threw out the model. But I still have the brochure for the car.
iBorg
I had a Lazer XT......great car.All I have left is the brochure. Miss that car.

Harry P.
Brings back memories... I had one exactly like that except it had the black rubber side skirts and front air dam. A very fast car... it was so cool when that turbo kicked in! But why is there what looks like a square hole in the rear glass?
CometMan
Nice build of an unusual subject, both the model and the real thing!
Lovefordgalaxie
I loved it. cars from the '80s are so cool. I remember a movie, with Tommy Lee Jones that had one of those. It's being a while, and I can be wrong... It was about a super futuristic car that was stolen or something like that (Black Moon??) I think it's almost 30 years since I saw that movie, so I don't recall it well
