drsnapper55 Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I was wondering if I could get some help identifying this engine. Parts of it have been painted, and it was originally molded in red. I think it was taken from a Chevy of some sort, and I notice it has some building options. I'm also interested in instructions (for how the turbos? assemble, etc.), scale, and opinions on its correctness. Thank you for any help - I appreciate it.
drsnapper55 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Thank you very much Rob - that seems to be the kit!Any help with instructions for the turbo setup would be greatly appreciated. The closest I can find online is the 1980 1/8 version, and it's not the same. Thanks again, Colby
Can-Con Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 That's not a Pontiac engine,it's a big block Chevy. Looks like an early '70 era AMT or MPC [or parts from both] from a Vette maybe with extra parts from other kits.
drsnapper55 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Oh man - the hunt may continue here! Thanks for all the info, but still can't find a match to anything online. Drastic Plastics has some good instructions, but I can't pull up a match from anything in Monogram or MPC. I'm fairly confident that this all came from one kit. I kind of thought it might be from a Chevelle kit of some sort. Thanks again,
Mark Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 MPC '72 Chevelle. I believe the very last issue of that kit had the dual turbocharger setup in it.

The even exhaust port spacing, the paired intake port spacing, and the valve cover shape and bolt pattern scream big-block Chebby.

I found an old ebay listing with a parts tree that I can make out that matches, so looking now for some instructions on how the turbo setup goes together, etc. Thanks again - this has been driving me crazy
