I was just reading Chuck Most's column concerning the Ford F-150 pickup . Chuck are you sure about the start for this truck ? I have one and I would be willing to swear ( oops I don't do that on line though ) that this model started as a Revell - Monogram Snap kit in late 1982 . The reason I say this is very hard to state .But when I do I think you'll understand . My 12 year old  went and bought his first , choose alone and pay for out of his allowance money model . It was this truck .A snap kit with the Revell name on it .

It was molded in black and had a full engine , and the most beautiful grey ( silver and red trimmed ) decals in a panel design .He built it all by himself .Uh Oh ! he accidently snapped the hood in two . It wasn't fixable . For some reason the glue wouldn't make a good join . So I showed him how to make a hood from scratch . He didn't show me the whole truck till the new hood was on it . Why ? well , it happened to match the brand new one in the driveway . He wanted me to have a model of my truck built by him .He died 14 days later In a tornado.

This truck didn't survive that day either . I have waited all these years for the exact truck to come back in stock trim . I believe this is that former Snap kit . I could be wrong . I still love it . Now it looks good done up just like the one he did back then . I have done it in Gloss Black with Silver panels outlined in red . It is gorgeous . Red interior too . Please don't ask for pictures as I have NEVER successfully learned how to do that .  oldcarnut

I'm sorry to hear about your son. Chuck is a member here so you could message him directly if you wish.

Here's a tutorial on posting pics. It's very easy.

Revell did have a snap F150 in 1/25th scale back then, but it is unrelated to the Monogram 1/24th '80-81 F150 glue kit that was reissued in the last year or so.  Revell and Monogram were still separate companies then.  The Revell snap kit F150s (there were a couple versions) have never been reissued AFAIK.

Would love to see what you did with the truck, though.....

I too am deeply sorry to hear this. I cannot imagine the loss. I wish you the best in being able to replace that model someday as it may well offer you some comfort. Have you tried Ebay since there have been no reissues?

Gary...very sorry to hear about your son.  I hope you can find the kit your looking for to have.  We had a tornado here awhile back lost many of my old childhood ones and some of my dads got damaged but we were very lucky not to loose anyone.

I know the kit you're talking about, it's the Revell Night Rider pickup. I was part of a series of Revell trucks that also included a fleet side. dually, and Bronco in 1/25 scale. Here is a picture of the kit. Here is a link to an ebay listing of the kit, this is a decent price for it for a Buy it Now. You might find it a bit cheaper in an auction but sometimes I like the certainty of just buying it outright, I paid this much for this same kit earlier this year.

WOW , that's it , Brian  ! !

It's alright though .I got the model built the way he did . It sure is one sharp truck . Now my friend down the street wants it . No way ! When I put the last part on it I , got quiet for a moment.  "Convoy " was playing on the CD player and that was his fave song . See we get sad , but the angels they are now do have something to do .Keep us sane !

Now , from here on out my comments will be geared to helping anyone that needs it . Remember , I've been doing this , it seems like forever , and I want to share . Cars were my first passion then ships got in the way ( I joined the Navy ) then things changed ( I rejoined after 12 , and started building Marine stuff . That is Planes , Light-skin Armor and figures .  I also scratch build a lot of oil and Gas tanker Ships .

My civilian job in the winter was captaining Seagoing , Oil and Gas tankers . But I like to build stock automobiles with vinyl tops and the extra trim of a regional nature . Like the " Razorback " Ford pickup .and the "Texas " edition Chevy etc .       Oldcarnut
