Hi,

Would any one know where I can find these local within the US or what kit may have them?

Something close is fine, no perfection needed.

The old Ertl diecast Posies Extremeliner kit and the Revellogram '39 Chevy kits have something in the ballpark...

Most cars from the '30s had headlights fairly similar to that, there are quite a few out there.

The only other two kits that I can think of right off hand are the AMT '37 Chevy and the AMT and Monogram '36 Ford kits...all of which usually bring more money than the Extremeliner and the '39 Chevy.

Any other suggestions?

The MPC '32 Chryslers, the Monogram '32 Cadillac, the Italeri '33 Cadillac all had lights very close to that (although they may be harder to find and more expensive). Also, some of the T or A kits with custom parts had the torpedo-shaped lights as well as the bowl-shaped stock ones.

Keep your eye open for that shape in the "real world." You might find it in pen/Sharpie caps, and things of that nature.

Also, if you have friends who build model airplanes, ask if they have any unused bombs or drop tanks of the right size and shape. Most airplane modelers have whole boxes of extra/unused ordnance.

I believe that the lights pictured are the ones sold by The Parts Box in Australia.  I’ve ordered from them many times.

Understand your conundrum completely – don’t care for the minimum order value or the S&H charges myself, but they offer decent quality parts.  Would not have any concerns with ordering from them again.  My experience is an average 2-3 weeks from order.  I would say that is average (or better) than most domestic resin parts suppliers I’ve dealt.

You could buy the same part from eBay seller “a-modeler”.  Their listing is a little higher (eBay fees?) than The Parts Box, but at least there is no minimum order value/quantity.

Never tried the Bic/Sharpie cap conversion, but I will give it a try one day when I feel more ambitious.

Wort case, I do have an extra set of these headlights in my parts stash.  Could be convinced to part with them for the right trade lol.
