Zoom Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 I have read that “most” of you prefer “new improved chrome”.So I have tested that. But my problem is that I can´t burnished that small unevenness that is on the folio from the beginning. I have three sheets of this and they all have this. The other BMF foil is “ultra-bright chrome” and with this I don´t have the same problems. I don´t know if I do something wrong or if the BMF sheets are BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH?Has anyone of you the same problems or have a solution for me?
Zoom Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 Cotton swabs mostly (different kinds), tooth picks in tight areas.
JTalmage Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Hmm. that's pretty much exactly what I use. I like to dip my cotton swaps in water first. Keeps the scratches down. A dab of aluminum polish works out well once you have it leveled down too, to bring the shine back. I sometimes used the flat/top side of my thumb nail to try and also help level it out.
peteski Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I wonder if the foil adhesive is not applied smoothly under the foil (at the factory)? Maybe that is causing the waves on the foil's surface?
Zoom Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 This is how one of my BMF-sheets look. Are yours free from this “waves”???
twopaws Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Had this problem earlier in the year, called BMF and was told that it is a glue application problem. He replaced the three sheets I had purchased from them and the replacements are ok. No matter how or how much you burnish that alligator finish will not dissappear. Craig
Zoom Zoom Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 The latest sheet I purchased is back to smooth; the 2 previous had the "orange peel" adhesive issue. Those sheets are now used for masking. I only use the regular aka "new & improved" chrome, never the ultra bright, though I think there was a time in the past couple of years they tried to pass off the ultra bright as the regular when they were having yet another one of their production issues.
Zoom Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Thank you for that information, now I know what the problem was/is.I will contact my hobby shop to see if they have “smooth” BMF on the shelf.
