Jordan White Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 This dual build will feature an Aoshima Hilux Double Cab kit and a Tamiya Land Cruiser 80, and they will be built to represent 1992 models that were sold in Pakistan. Why Pakistan? Well, I found an auto sales site from there while doing picture research and liked what I saw. They seem to love customizing their vehicles, especially Toyotas. I will be building these kits fairly box stock, with only a few exterior parts from my spares. The Hilux will be a medium red metallic SSR-X model, and the Land Cruiser will be a beige/dark gray two-tone VX Limited model. Here's what I'm starting with:
Dieselhead Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Man, when I read "Pakistani Toyotas" I was expecting white trucks covered in dust with machine guns in the bed. At any rate, good luck, dual builds are always a pain. Try not to confuse parts between the two kits (I've done that, not fun to sort out).
gatorincebu Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 This thread ought to prove interesting. Be Well Gator
Tom Geiger Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 pictures.. we need pictures. Every time I see news footage of a long line of beat to death Toyota pickups at some Afghan check point I think I need to build a model someday!
Jordan White Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 I hope to get started tonight a bit. And yes, I figured there may be some other ideas when I posted the title! Oh, and I also changed my mind on the color of the Land Cruiser, I'm going to go with a medium blue metallic based on a real vehicle I found in my idea search. The Hilux will look pretty close to the box art (including the stripes), and the Land Cruiser will look something like this:
Jordan White Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Other than the shocks which are still drying, the chassis for the Hilux is finished.
gatorincebu Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 That chassis looks pretty good to me . Be Well Gator
Jordan White Posted November 23, 2016 Author Posted November 23, 2016 Tonight I completed the chassis for the Land Cruiser. When I get back from Thanksgiving vacation, I'll be able to start on the interiors!
darthsideous Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Looking really good so far. Looking forward to seeing more!
MeatMan Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Nice choices. I can attest to the Land Cruiser as I built the off road version for the Cannonball Run CBP. I was impressed by the fit and quality of the kit.
Jordan White Posted December 5, 2016 Author Posted December 5, 2016 Interiors for both are completed, and the undercarriage now shows what the body colors will look like.
