Ace-Garageguy Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Very interesting reading. Thanks for the link.
unclescott58 Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Old news covered in another thread here reviewing the kit itself.
regular guy Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Uncle ScottIf anybody referred to this article on Round2 website I must of missed it.Article says AMT can build 'lost' parts from scratch. If they release kits with ALL parts ever made for the kit in ALL releases (it will fit in box)that would make me and A LOT of other people happyThe last exercise in frustration was the Piranha with no Hemi version. So it would have been a double kit big deal their retailing these kits at $25-30!Money can be spent on other stuff until AMT gets with the program. Thanks
Phirewriter Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 The Piranha drag version is an entirely different kit and was reissued around 10 years ago. The spy version has nothing in common except the name, there's no conversion or extra parts other than what came in each kit. I've seen the dragster at shows and swaps for not much more than retail so they shouldn't be had to track down if you need one.
regular guy Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 MichaelThat's ridiculous to pay $25 for current Piranha kit and then another $20 plus shipping for a Hemi version whenit could have just been run off as a double kit.You can put me down as a hard sell when it comes to AMT kits.I would like to see custom clear parts included too like hoods and roofswhen it would work. What kind of kit would get me to pay retail for it is a whole other topic.Want to see kits molded in color, either the old grey or brownish yellowish color. Most people on this planet figure colored plastic is higher quality than white.Bob
Mark Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 How much would the double kit sell for, seeing as it would require a larger box and the output of two tools and two molding machines? And, if they were sold together, more people would complain than not: "why do I have to buy both, when I only want one of them?"
regular guy Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 MarkIt ought to sell for $20-30 like most kits. They ought to make up any initial costs in volume. If they want to do short runs of premium kits then do so and label them like that.Don't know about a larger box double kits look like the same size box to me.They just have some heft to them. That's what I want for my modeling dollar, lots of interesting useful parts.Bob
