youpey Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 This is my first kit in a couple of years. the paint is testors black cherry with a basecoat of testors citrus yellow. the kit was originally supposed to be only the citrus color but i didnt have enough to do a full car and with holidays around im cutting costs. I have not yet clear coated it but the paint is dry. i like the gloss. Hope the pictures show up
espo Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 That color will look great on this body style. Having not built a kit for a while you will be pleased with this one. I think it is one of Revell's better efforts.
geetee66 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 That's a good colour. I bet it'll look special, with clearcoat. So, what are your plans for it?Mild custom, or something?
youpey Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Thank you guys for the nice words. I havent decided what to do with the build yet. i typically try to build as close to stock as possible using only what came in the kit (with the exception of BMF). However, my concept of the build is out the window since i am out of both colors i used and I dont want to spend any loot right now (and i dont want to wait for the shipping either). My plan was to use the kit rims and paint it the same color as the body (which i cant do).Probably i will just make the rims a steel color and use the chrome hubcaps. I will look through my spare kits to see if i have any cool looking motor that will fit without much custom work (that always messes me up), maybe i will go crazy on it. I already decided since i did a color that was not available for this model year (nothing close to it), that i will do a custom color for the interior as well. My research shows me the 1950 Olds 88 only had a gray interior or a 2 tone gray interior, i might do a burgundy red interior now or maybe even a sand leather color interior.I will post more progress pics as they come in the coming days. at this point i am still cleaning up the small pieces, so nothing really to see yet.
