skymnky721 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Hi all,,I finished the Malco car this week,,had a bit of prob w/front tilt setup,so just made it removable. It turned out ok. Also revised the interior to a single seat setup,,changed the back slicks,,and the front rims to cragers,,the stock front rims had too much sink spots,,egde of rim flashing ect. Different roll bar, added some x-tra gauges, and the rear wheelie bar set up was bizzare. Theres holes in lower valance for the bars,,but they dont line up w/the wheelie bar assembly,,but the rear bumper had 2 premolded "holes" that did line up to the wheelie bar assy. But no holes in rear for them,,had to drill those out. All in all,,nice kit to have,,but did have to change a few things. Some may have had better luck w/all these things,,it is what it is. Enjoy all the works in here,,keep rockin! S
espo Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Looks fantastic and the back drop looks perfect.
skymnky721 Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 Thanks Dave,,its not the BX stock build I was hoping for,,had to dremmel out blower scoop area also to make room for x-tras,,linkages,,ect. But looks ok,,Ive had this kit for over 2 yrs and finally got to get it done recently. Thanks so much,,S
D. Battista Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Very nice I like the wheel choice too..! one of my favorite subjects...!
skymnky721 Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) Thanks Dave,,I would have used the Halibrands that were kit supplied,,but it would have been alot of x-tra messin around to get them to look good,,so I just grabbed some "left over parts bx" rims for the front,,and actually the Cragars look good on it as well. Thanks for looking,,,S {Note to self: I just noticed my "chapman" decal on drivers front,,the N is messed up,,Ill have to fix that} Edited December 11, 2016 by skymnky721 typo
cobraman Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Looks like you did a great job on that kit.
skymnky721 Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) Thanks Cobra,,theres so many great builds in here,,wish I had more time to build and be online. There was also another prob w/this kit,,the header flanges should lay "flat" to heads,,like a 1:1 mtr,,so when I did that,,the headers dont make it all the way up to the header cutout in front quarter panel,,which looks kindof cheesy,,oh well,,what are ya gonna do? donb Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I had the same problem with the front clip on this kit. Among other things. But you nice a really nice job with it. And I agree with the surroundings,
skymnky721 Posted December 14, 2016 Author Posted December 14, 2016 (edited) I had the same problem with the front clip on this kit. Among other things. But you nice a really nice job with it. And I agree with the surroundings, yea,,I read somewhere they "re-designed" the front clip setup,,,uuummm,,,??? Not sure what may have been consumed prior to "re-designing" that. Also when the headers didnt behave,,they were in total conflict w/the radius rods attached to front axle! so I removed them{radius rods},,and installed 45 degree 2nd set of front shocks just behind the stock setup. It actually made the whole front end much more solid + strong,,not much flex to it now. And had to dremmel out clearance in scoop opening to make room for wires, linkages,,ect. Also changed the radiator to a smaller size one from leftover parts box,,{ I needed to see that awsome SOHC Mtr!!} And the front grill plate that came in kit didnt really blend well with the front end,,so I just painted the grill Flat Blk,,and added some x-tra lights for giggles+ fun. All in all its still a cool kit to have on the shelf,,just had to work out the bugs in the design of it all. Thanks for the kind words,,S Edited December 14, 2016 by skymnky721 typo
