Fast Floyd 2 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Here's another Oldie but Goody. Here's my AMT 1965 Mustang 2+2, I'm working on. I used a set of styled steel wheels from a AMT 1966 Fairlane GT kit, I'm also having to use a later issue AMT 66 Mustang Coupe 289, but most everything else is from the original kit. Thank for looking & let me know what you think about it.
vamach1 Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Are you making a GT350 or GT or a non GT fastback? The grille you have would put it in the non GT category if you are building a factory stock version.

Chance of finding those 51 years later are slim to none. So it will probably end up being a Non GT. I'm waiting on a AWB mustang kit to get he so i can Cut the Quarter vent out to replace the Missing vent on my original body.
falcon wagon Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Very nice I have two AMT Mustangs in the works myself

I know because I had one and I didn't like the lights and I crudely cut/filed/scraped them out. Modelhaus DID offer a repop of that grille, but of course that chapter is closed. Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland might still offer them. I have a vague recollection of running across such a thing in a stash of resin in the Snakepit a couple months ago. But I could be wrong.

Here's the grill your talking about, I think. This one has the glue in GT lights and Bars.

Snake here's a better picture of the 66 grill with the glue in GT lights & bars.

I think those parts are from the original HT/Conv kit (which I have a mint unbuilt NIB copy of). The grill in the '66 fastback--which also incidentally carried correct GT fender badges and gas cap--looked like this: http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/ford/1961-1970/amt_1966_mustang_gt/1966_mustang_gt_amt_5.html I think I still have the one I carved the lights and bars out of in 1966 if you want to see a picture.
Fast Floyd 2 Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 Wow!!!! I haven't been to Drastic's in a Very Long time!!! HAHAHAHA!! Bob Black was President then LOL!! that's been a Minute!! I have part of that kit too. but I didn't get that grill in it. I have the custom grill & the Shelby grill, but no GT grill. My 66 Fastback body has had all the scripts sanded off, and the drivers door cut open. Some one added the Custom Head light block out on it too. I'll share some pictures of it later. i will probably end up cutting the nose off it and replacing it with one from a 66 Coupe. Thanks for the info & link
