Wondering if anyone on here have a set of 1/32 chrome wheels w/tires (anything similar to the torque thrust rims) they would be interested in parting with?...thought about going to toysrus and buying a diecast just for wheels but then I'm stuck with a model with no wheels.

Payment via Paypal. Thanks.

Not my best paintwork but the color is starting to grow on me. Interior will be light gray w/royal blue accents. I hate these snap kits!

Quick question, is Castro superklean still available at Walmart in the gallon? And new to laquer paint but does it strip it off models like the enamel?

First off, welcome to this forum!!  I do still

like to build 1/32nd scale kits, and have like 20

or more of them.

And buying diecast cars for parts works out

quite well if you plan ahead!

I have that same monogram kits as you do.

There are a few things I can tell you that

might help out a little.

If you buy a diecast for it's wheels and tires,

you can always replace the wheels with a set

from one of the kits wheels.

I have a pic here for you that also shows the

wheels and tires from a Corvair kit in 1/24th.

But the diecast car is just 5.99 at Walgreens

if you have one near you!?!

Interesting project, I just bought the same kit for myself so I'll be following this one with a great interest. But isn't the kit a '78-'81 Malibu rather than a '82. If I'm not mistaken, for '82 Malibu and El Camino got that dual headlight setup, which was definitely worse looking than the former one with single headlights.

Its not called Castrol Super Clean anymore....Castrol sold it But they still have it and its just called Super Clean and its still in the Purple Jug.  I have not had a problem with it taking off the lacquer paint as long as it was not an old paint job...just takes a bit longer

The kit:  Yes.  It is a '78-'79.  There's a minor difference in the grille pattern between those years and I don't recall which the kit represents, but it is one or the other.  Definitely not an '82 unless you are changing the grille and taillights.

Yep, I thought it looked like a '78 to me too, but bought it on ebay it was listed as an '82. Building a replica of my first car which was a '78! Thanks for the advice guys!

Went to wally world and found a jada trans am, wasn't sure about the scale but worked out ok for the price. Thinking about using the interior as well since it has racing buckets.

Ok, a little progress on the interior. I decided to use old scrap leather, from my first office chair I bought when I was thirteen at Best Buy I save everything, unfortunately.

I used the suede side on the headrest and seat area, and painted center piece the leather side blue. Used aluminum tape to chrome the bumper.

I've been quite busy with life, helping with home painting/garage.
