Robert81 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 (edited) I've never posted a build on this forum, so I thought it was time. This is a build for a build off on another forum. I started with the chassis body and interior of AMT's 29 Model A roadster.the frame has been Zed front and rear. The engine is the flathead from AMT's 49 Mercury kit, with the Offenhauser heads and dual stromberg carburetors. The headers are from two four cylinder in the Model A kit. The center pipe will be scratch built. The body has been channeled and the inner fenders cut out. The rear wheels are parts box whitewall (they where painted silver out of the parts box, they will be stipped and repainted) slicks with "torque thrust" style rims.the front wheels will be wires from Lindberg's 34 ford, and tires from AMT's 57 Chevrolet (old tool) belair. The rear suspension is the kit piece with the "wishbone" split. The front axle is from Lindberg's 34 ford, with the slit wishbones. The grille will be either the stock one or the "track" style nose from Revell's 29 ford pickup. The colours will be black frame, body and grille shell, with red engine, wheels and interior. george 53 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I agree,it's already lookin like a mean lil hotrod!
dub Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Good progress! These 29 A roadster's are really fun to build. I can't wait to build the one in my backlog.
Robert81 Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 This is the final "on the bench post" for this build. After many set backs and issues, I'm finally on the home stretch. Here is the finished chassis. Here is the 49 Mercury flathead, with custom headers. My first ones. I had an Idea the other night to mount the wheels to the center drum of the stock Model A wheels. this meant using the wire wheels from AMT's 32 ford 5 window. I hope you enjoy. Next stop, the shelf... hopefully by Saturday.
Bernard Kron Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 (edited) You've worked real miracles with the AMT '29 Roadster stuff. Such a nice body and such a frustrating kit otherwise. Great stance, neat contemporary ruff 'n' reddy vibe and excellent detailing. Super headers first time out! Where'd the oh so hip Alexander heads come from? In fact that whole flathead is real sweet, the tranny being especially nice. Can't wait for the Under Glass on this one. I'm especially partial to the '29 Roadster. They aren't often modeled and it's a special treat when one as nice as this is in the offing. B. Edited August 13, 2008 by gbk1
Robert81 Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 I'm glad you like it. The engine is the flathead from AMT's 49 Mercury kit, with the Offenhauser heads and dual stromberg carburetors. The headers are from two four cylinder in the Model A kit, with the center pipes scratch built. There is a "Bee Hive" style oil filter that is suppose to be mounted to the left head, but I'm going to mount it to the firewall.

Looks good in your build. For some reason I read Alexander instead of Offenhauser, oops...
62SS Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Looking good so far. Cant wait to see it done. Keep up the good work. Ed
