oldcarfan Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I just saw a reissue of the old Monogram Countach at HobbyTown. I didn't find a review or a finished build up of it. I assume it is a typical 80s Monogram style kit. I'm thinking of doing one as a fiberglass kit car, sort of a kit car kit! I'm not looking for a super detailed kit, just a fun builder. From the box art, the only obvious issue is the regular issue Monogram tires that are both too tall and too narrow for a Countach. I'm thinking a set of Pegasus or Aoshima tires and wheels might be a good option. If anyone has built one of these, I sure would be interested in your opinions.
Can-Con Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I mostly built one years ago but never finished it. I thought it was a nice kit with good detail but I think you may be right about the tires and wheels. It has small Pirelli tires I used a set under one of my VW Rabbits. LOLAnyway, here's a link to the Drastic Plastics club instruction sheet page for that kit. [the kit with the red car is very similar]http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/monogram-instructions/foreign--exotic/monogram-lamborghin/
oldcarfan Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 From the newest box art, it looks almost like they are using the Radial T/As that Monogram used to put with all there hot rod kits! I hope not. LOL
JollySipper Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 It's not a bad kit, as long as you do a LOT of test fitting when building up the Jungle Gym of an engine bay/suspension assembly...... I really want a Countach in my collection, but I may get a Fujimi one next time............
Deathgoblin Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I've got one that I built from a gluebomb. It's actually fairly detailed, especially the engine. It builds up nicely. The only part that I didn't care for is the way the body is split up. I ended up cutting the rear plate off the chassis and fitted it to the body to fill the gaps.
