JollySipper Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Was there a kit besides the '69 Charger that came with the two engine options? Were there two complete engines in the '69, or do you use the same block for both?A friend wants a model with a BB Dodge motor, but I hate to buy a '71 Charger just for the motor and have a partial kit left..... At least if the '69 has two complete engines, I can put the 440 in his model and build the kit with the Hemi...........Thanks for any help!
JollySipper Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 My bad, Fellas..... seems the '69 only comes with a 440, the '68 kit has the two options...... but do you build both engines from the same block, or are there two complete engines?Again, Sorry........ and thanks.........
Casey Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) The Revell '68 Hemi Dart kit did include two complete engines.I think the original issue of the Revell-Monogram Pro Modeler '69 Dodge Charger R/T kit included both the 426 Hemi and the 440 Magnum, the latter of which continued on in the later version of the '69 Charger R/T and now the '68 R/T.The AMT '70 Dodge Coronet R/T Pro Street Kit included parts to build both the regular 426 Hemi and the experimental DOHC Hemi, but the block and trans were shared, so you could only build one complete engine. Mark Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Some of the stock (not Pro Street) AMT B-body Mopar kits include two engines, a Street Hemi and a 440. Pretty sure only one transmission is included, though. The Pro Street versions include only the Hemi, though the '70 Coronet includes the experimental dual overhead-cam setup as an option.
JTalmage Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I do believe that the Pro-Modeler '69 Dodge Daytona came w/ the 440 and the 426 because you could build a suedo-Nascar out of it.
Jon Haigwood Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 My Revell 68 Charger comes with a 426 and 440 with separate engine blocks but with no attached tranny. Only one tranny in thekit. The AMT 69 GTX comes with both engines with attached bell housings and only one tranny.
JollySipper Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 Thanks, Guys...... I have a spare transmission laying around, sounds like the '68 will be the way to go..........
Greg Myers Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Jollysipper, find the kit here http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/ check out the instructions
