George, downloading them is really easy.

1st--- open the pic,

2nd ---right click on it. in the drop down window tell it to "save as"

3rd---- in the block the opens, select a location you want to save them in and at the bottom of the block, select what format you want it to be in, usually JPEG and tell it to save.

Even you can do it.:P:lol:

Rollin, I downloaded those pics and when I took a look at them in photo shop it said they were 96.000. I'm afraid that's not high enough to print on an inkjet. They'll be all fuzzy and blured. The res should be higher. maybe 150 or 300. I can change them but it won't help now. :)

George, what I was explaining to you was how to download Rollins pics to your puter. Downloading pics from your camera is different, but not hard. Your DSC W55 looks to be a very good camera. 7.5 maga pix w/ 3 power optical zoom. It should make a 40 some inch pic. It should have come w/ the camera to usb plug and probibly a disc w/ a sony photo program on it. I don't know what printer you have but mine is a lexmark 3100 series and it has camera chip docking ports built in. It's better to pull the chip from your camera and down load direct. (if you use the camera for the download it'll use up your batteries), but you'll have to do whatever you have. If you're using the camera, plug the cord into it and the usb port. I imagine you're using windows xp so it'll automatically recognize that you plugged it in and will ask you what you want to do w/ it. simply tell it to open for viewing. once it's open and you can see all your pics either hit select all and have it move or copy the pics to where you want. or you can hightlight each pic and on the left side of the screan tell it to move or copy each pic individually. It's very simple to do. If you don't try, you'll never figure it out ol bud.

don't worry about it ;) i used MS Paint to reduce the size of the pics since i don't have photoshop... maybe u can make them nicer for me? i'd have no problems whatsoever with that

If I get some time Rollin I'd be glad to do some. The secret is to take a larger pic and increase the resolution so when you reduce it it has sharper detail I've made decals for my 440 valve covers w/ good success. It took me several tries before I figured out what I was doing wrong. :D

Go to the website, download the original image(s) and "insert" as a picture in a Word document. Right click and format the picture to what size you need. Works great for decals, gauges, license plates, etc...

No, No, No.

Never change resolution of a photo unless the proportions are constrained, kept the same, etc.

In other words, don't ever ever ever up the resolution of an image unless the size or width/pixels stays the same.

If you have a 72 dpi image from the web, and you want to print it, in scale, don't resize it to 300 dpi unless the size or proportions will be constrained.

If the original image is say, 72 dpi, 12" wide, at a size of 300K, and you change the dpi to 300, keeping the constraints on, the size of the image should stay the same, i.e.: 300k

Now, if you want to make the image smaller, you can always go down, you just can't go up.

You can go to a 300 dpi image at 2" wide, which will probably give you a size of 150K, and will be fine.

Make sense?

That's interesting Gregg. The reasoning behind what I said was do to when I was making license plates in scale. When I made them in paint (at 12inx6in) then reduced and printed them, they were unusable. so what I did was make the back ground blank in paint and then take it to photo shop and change the resolution to above 150, then add the lettering and reduced them to .480x.240 they came out just fine. I did try what you were saying and you were right from what I saw. changing the res didn't seem to change the pix count just made everything smaller.

Rollin, I stand corrected. I guess I can't help you after all.

YOU GUYS ARE F'IN GENUISES!!! I thought I was gonna have to pay $5 plus s&h for those stereo faces!! I went to crutchfield and saved about 40 faces, took the one I wanted to Corel photoshop and downed it to 0.85x0.29 and it fits in my challenger dash PERFECTLY!! Now I just have to print it on my decal paper and you guys saved me $10 or more!! Not to mention I'm gonna try it on some more dashes tomorrow! Granted I can only do one face at a time because I'm cheap and am still using my sample program that came with my pc, but really, who needs 40 cd players at once!!!! I find more and more stuff to be amazed by everyday from you guys!!!! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!

THANKS,

ABE

Ha this brings back memories! :P I used to do this back when I was still in High School!!! Anytime I got a new Car/Truck/Kustom Magazine, there was always new ads for the different Dakota Digital Dashes that were really clear.... What I would do, was take them to the Local Color Copying place, and the Cutie behind the counter would print me up a bunch in 1/24 and 1/25 scale.... Haven't done any more of them, as I got a little carried away, and made them too complicated, then lost interest in them....

Tip, to make them a bit more realistic, use a sheet of transparent film over the top of them.... I would even go as far as using a Red or a Blue transparent, to make them seem more like a real instrument panel....

Btw: One of the easiest and realistic way I have found to mount the radios, instead of making them into a slide decal, is to mount the face to a small piece of thin plastic card stock..... Using a good Artist Spray Tack/Mount, lightly mist the card stock, and place the face to it, that was just quickly cut from the sheet.... After the spray mount has dried, take a sharp #11 Exacto Blade, trim the plastic card to the size of the radio face outside bezel.... From there, just use a dab of your favorite adhesive to mount where you want it on your model interior..... Be Creative with were you mount your new radio, if you are mounting it in a Vintage Ride, as in the real world they are mounted any where(Open the Glove Box, and mount it in there, for a Modern Vintage Sealth install... Add a box to the back of the Card stock, and mount it under the dash, for the look a Resto Builder does, so they don't butcher the vintage dash.... Mount it in the Trunk, for a Kustom/Hot Rod Stealth Show System)!!!

That is an incredibly great idea. I get tired of trying to detail instrument faces, and this would save everybody a world of grief. Fantastic :P

Cool idea ! I did do the same for my Honda Accord I did some time back. That was for the GPS module. I simple googled GPS and whatever that suited me was taken. I printed it on leftover photopaper. The results were nice.
