ranma Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 In trying to do a tribute collection to chevrolet 1950-80 what Impala kits could be kit bashed to make a '68 Impala? From what I seen 65 would come close on the front/hood so would the 66 work for the rest of the body? or a 67? Also want to do a '69 Chevrolet kit bash so what kit's would help on that?
MrObsessive Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Rick, a '67 would come the closest to making a '68. '66 is a whole 'nuther kettle of fish. Front and rear ends are a bit different between '67 and '68...........Modelhaus made bumpers (front and rear) for a '68. I'm not sure where you'd get those now unless you came across a total glue bomb somewhere. For a '69, you might want to check out a '70 kit as that's readily more available as those bodies are similar.Hope this helps!
ranma Posted February 25, 2017 Author Posted February 25, 2017 Thanks, I thought the 70 would work for the 69, but wasn't sure about it, Ive seen some resin 68 impala bodies on ebay but the casting looks iffy.
Tom Geiger Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Rick- Why mess around when there are kits of those years? 1968 Annual convertible in restorable condition 1969's black one is a kit, white one is a promo. Yes, a mint in the box kit is selling for upward of $200 but restorable annuals show up on eBay all the time. It's a matter of setting up a search agent that sends emails to you when one is available and patience. There have also been resin copies of both years, I believe R&R did them, I have a 1969 wagon of theirs. Out of print, but eBay again!
Can-Con Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 (edited) MCW also does resin '68 and '69 Impala SS hardtops and Biscane 2dr sedans. The '69 hardtop is even available in formal style roof like the kits were and the sloped rear window style. Edited February 26, 2017 by Can-Con

I once owned a 69 SS HT and my mother owned a 69 wagon...love to build or have a replica of them someday. I have a 69 HT rebuilder but need to find a few parts for it yet.
