Bob,

On your 308, did you need to use any primer or barrier to paint the red plastic interiors a light color? I plan to paint mine light tan, but the red plastic is a concern. I plan to use Model Master paints as usual. Maybe a light coat of Moom Mud? A coat of MM aluminum? Any comments or tips?

Thanks,

I don't think you'll have any problem w/color bleeding using MM enamels or acrylics (or even the MM lacquer interior colors); I almost always use acrylics on interiors so the bleed isn't a problem. I rarely prime a seat/interior unless it's molded in a color that won't be covered well by the color I'm choosing.

So far I [knock on wood] never had bleed on red , purple or orange with Dupli-color non build up primer , only never tried it on yellow...

You are lucky. Ismael's building a vintage Monogram kit in red plastic that is notorious for bleeding when lacquer/automotive paints are used on it. I just painted a similar Monogram kit from the late 70's using Tamiya white primer to start, and it turned pink. Using enamel/acrylic hobby paints for the interior doesn't seem to cause problems, but automotive paints definitely will especially on vintage yellow or red Monogram plastic. Been there, got the pink T-shirt

Thanks Bob . thats good for me to keep in mind on building something older , I should have stated I used it on newer kits , that H-1 I shot sublime green was with Dupli-color primer with Testors lacquer system colors..H-1 molded in red,,,,,,,,,

Get a can of BIN Ismael That will block the red dye from bleeding through,,,even if you wanted to use white laquer on it.

But,,IIRC you'r painting it light metallic blue?? Bleed may not be a problem with what you have already done.

Thanks guys.

I shouldn't have a problem with the body. I'm using a healthy dose of Moon Mud primer. It was the interiors I was worried about. But it seems MM enamels should work fine. I'll keep you posted!

I've been werking ona Mono Kurtis Indy racer...all red plastic. I used Plasti-kote Sandable white primer. I've heard that they have a grey, but I've haven't as yet seen any.

Oh yeah, yu do have to sand this stuff, it dries out like flat white tank(armor) paint. Ruff as a cob.
