junkyardjeff Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I got the idea of taking the Monogram beer wagon Mack truck and making it a more original truck,it will not be 100 percent original but more like a work truck instead of a hotrod so has anyone done it.
disabled modeler Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Jeff.... I did one many many years ago...the hard part is the real trucks were much bigger than the show rod one. Finding hard rubber tires/wheels might be tough in that size. I used a lot of extra parts and some from a Model T Ford and others on mine I did back then. Hope this helps some.
Danno Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Why try to convert a show rod to stock when there are already three available versions of stock Mack trucks? Monogram released flat bed, dump, and tanker trucks. They are still fairly easy to find on the internet, and it would be hugely easier than trying to modify the beer wagon.
Dave Van Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 If you compare the Beer Wagon to the stock Monogram Macks you will see Beer Wagon is more like 1/32 scale as a stock vehicle. A common trick when building showrods.
junkyardjeff Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 I did not know a stock version was made and will have to look for one.
Can-Con Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Humm. Yes, the stock trucks were considerably bigger than depicted as the Beer Wagon but consider this,,, How about a "phantom" Mack pickup. It could have been similar in size to a Ford T pickup but using many of the styling cues from the senior Mack trucks. You could use the Ford T frame and suspension with a modified Beer Wagon cab, hood and front fender unit with the Ford box and a modified set of rear fenders and running boards. Now take all that and hotrod it in a similar manner to how you usually see a T pickup rodded. Edited March 11, 2017 by Can-Con
stavanzer Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Wheels and Frame from the Beverly Hillbillies Olds might work with the Beer Wagon.I've got about five of the Olds kits, but no Beer Wagon, or I'd try test fitting them myself.
