Intmd8r Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) Started off as a ’50 Chevy glue bomb with missing chassis, engine, and interior. Used a Flea Market ’53 Corvette find to fill in the blanks. This was mainly an exercise to try the salt weathering technique and opportunity for some creativity. Edited April 24, 2017 by Intmd8r
blackbeard Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 wow that looks fantastic love the weathering on it so real looking
KWT Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 (edited) WOW... nice looking weathering job! And fitting it with the vette... look like it was meant to go together. Edited April 24, 2017 by KWT
espo Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Great weathering. I like that you used the Corvette engine.
Intmd8r Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Thanks for the feedback everyone, it was a fun little experiment. The guy who sold me the Corvette kit told me that I was wasting my time trying to fit it under the truck body. It was satisfying to show him the pics of the final result a few weeks later
Spex84 Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Very cool combination of parts! I wouldn't have thought to try and put the two together. on the other hand I'm putting a '57 vette frame under a '40 Ford right now, so I guess it itsn't too crazy. The seats in particular look like they were made for the truck.Cool weathering job too...definitely looks like it spent a long time out in the elements!
Intmd8r Posted April 26, 2017 Author Posted April 26, 2017 Thanks Chris. I wanted to use a less common engine in this build, once I found out what was missing from the glue bomb. SBC in pick ups have been done to death….The in-line 6 from the C1 Corvette is often referred to as the truck engine, so the ’53 was the best (cost effective) source for that engine that I could think of. Things go out of hand from there..
