Crazed Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Old "Diamond in the rough kit that was half built, decided to do a 4x4 conversion after I saw some wheels from Scenes Unlimited.
Crazed Posted April 24, 2017 Author Posted April 24, 2017 Picked up a AMT "Super Stones" kit to use for parts, put the front axle onto the 53 leafs, and used the lift springs and rear axle from the stones kit as well..
Crazed Posted April 24, 2017 Author Posted April 24, 2017 Decided to use the 460 from the stones as well, decided to make the transfer case a mated one instead of divorced, ended up removing all the crossmembers and making my own.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 This is my kind of truck!! Great subject and great work!!
Fordboy1975 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Nice job!would never have thought to use the rear leafs and the axles from the super stones kit.
mikemodeler Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Nice start, should be a good looking model when done.
Crazed Posted April 28, 2017 Author Posted April 28, 2017 Haven't had much time, got just a little done.
DumpyDan Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Well done, this looks really good the 4x4 works well on this kit
Crazed Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) Worked on it a little started making an exhaust, then started looking at the half done 15+ year old paint and decided to freshen it up. First paint I have done in many years, the Tamiya rattle cans seem to flow pretty well. Laid on some white primer on the whole thing, sanded mold lines and stuff out, then re primed and put on a little red. Edited May 24, 2017 by Crazed Spelling
gatorincebu Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Nice work on the 4X4 conversion and chassis mods . Be Well Gator
Crazed Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Been really busy but I got a little done, started to wire the motor, Had to do the correct firing order.. Then started on the front shock mounts, used some channel Evergreen.. Needed to notch the inner fenders after that..Kinda seems meant to be..now chopping up the exhaust from a couple "Firestones" kits to make dual exhaust..
Crazed Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 Thanks, makes me want to go back down and work on it
