Anyone know of an aftermarket source for wide whitewall tires?
How about Sombrero style wheelcovers?

Not sure if Replicas & Miniatures still lists the Somberos, they were nice with separate clear red centers. Model Car Garage also had a turned aluminum set, no longer available but turm up on eBay once in a while. I think the last release of the Amt '62 TBird had Somberos.

The Parts Box has wide whites, but I have not tried them out.

This doesn't sound promising. Something so universally used in our hobby like wide whites is now reduced to hunting for it on Ebay? I hate Ebay. Wish we could get another aftermarket source for hot rod and custom parts. Especially wheels and tires.

Didn't the Revell chopped '49 Merc kit, and the '48 Ford Custom kit, both come with chromed Sombrero hubcaps?

Yes, and wide whites.

The 49 Merc has this style cap

The 48 Ford has these

The Hub Caps should be readily available if you list what you need on the Wanted part of this forum. The same for the white walls. Another source for the tires would be Round 2 / AMT offer some very nice Firestone Deluxe Champion tires in both wide and thin stripe styles. Pegsus now offers some wheels and tires now that look great also.
