Pete68 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Here's a start to a Mack DM 600 steel hood that I'm working on. The dump bed I made from a fruehauf dump trailer the cab is it A I T M. I sanded the top of the cab down and re formed it a little bit and sanded off the Mack letters in the front and retro them with the smaller ones the year 1966-72. Enjoy the pics
gatorincebu Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 i like what I see here. Love the steel hood and pit fenders. The green you chose looks good as well . Are you going to dechrome the wheels ? Be Well Gator
Pete68 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 Gatorthanks yes I'm going to paint the wheels just a mock up till I get some wheels and tires from AITM there was a truck that was like this that sat at a sawmill about 60 miles from my house always wanted to build it
Pete68 Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 It's been awhile since I've had this one on the bench mainly because the cab always bothered me and I never liked that cab.I wanted to use the MPC DM600-800 cab but I knew it was going take a lot of work and re- working to get it the way I wanted it to look so day I did. Now maybe I will get this thing done. Enjoy the pics
Pete68 Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 (edited) Today I dug this old build out and see if I could wrestle it to submission. The build and the whole thing has not gone my way since I first bought the cab from Dave who gave a a great deal on it because it was an old Doug Compton/Jim Etter pour he had laying around. I did lots of modifications including cutting that thick cab off and replacing it with a MPC cab. I never liked how the bogey sat on the frame it was too far back and how the wheels stuck out so I removed the bogey today and cut down the ends of the rear ends and the hub's even with the rim. Yes I lost the detail on the end of the rear end but you will never see it anyway because the wheel hides it. Edited January 16 by Pete68
BK9300 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 More from the 'never ending pile' of Macks! You may have set a bunch of these kits to the side way back, but you certainly are catching up these days. A person might think you have a plan in place! Good start (resumption) to another build, Lee.
