Xingu Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 It's possible that this hypothetical padded envelope will be held (for ransom) at the post office of the return address and not released until the postage due is paid.
Brett Barrow Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 (edited) Might could get away with it on a letter across town but a padded mailer with a faraway return address they will collect postage due from the "recipient" especially if it's already near the "recipient"'s Zip code. You'd be better off addressing it the right way and hoping it goes through. Worst case you have to pay. Worst case the other way you have to pay twice. Plus it's mail fraud. JollySipper Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Nah, I addressed correctly, and the right postage was added, some folks like to say they had to pay a difference just to bugger with you........ I'll ask for photo proof of any postage due. The PO would stamp that on the envelope, right?
Tom Geiger Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 The postal rates have become complicated and it seems the interpretation is in the eyes of the beholder. You can take a package for counter service at my local PO and the rate can vary greatly depending on which clerk you get. AND where in the old days I'd weigh and price my own packages (and apply stamps I already owned), now I just take it to the PO and let them price it out. Even then I've had packages that they processed, arrive on the other end postage due.
Darren B Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Might want to check Fed-X or UPS, sometimes they are cheaper. Agreed, sometimes can be much cheaper, not always but I trust them better than the usps anyway.
