Good afternoon. I'm trying to find out what color is on this 1977-1978 Arizona Highway Patrol Dodge Monaco. Unfortunately, this is the only quality image I have (courtesy of copcar.com). I'm looking to see if anybody might know the specific Chrysler paint code so I can try to find a close match.

Thank you in advance.

Traditionally, AZ Highway Patrol cars have been white up until 2016 when a grey color was adopted. However, the few vintage photographs there are of the agency show that different colors were used throughout the 1970s. Given the wide array of colors, I'm assuming that they were all factory colors as AZ has never (to the best of my knowledge) run a custom paint job.

DPS is still running white,  they were going to try a different color scheme, and it wasnt grey, where did that info about the grey come from.

Funny, Ive had that same photo saved for some time to build that some day.

DPS is indeed still running white, but those are older cars. The 2016+ models have the new paint job/decal scheme:

And my apologies, the new color is silver, not grey. For the record, I much prefer the traditional scheme that DPS ran before this new change.

Since you're planning the same project in the future, any ideas on the color of the Monaco in the picture?

Depends on the year.

If they were using factory colors, there were two grays available in '77 & four in '78.

My guess would be "Silver Cloud" in '77 or either "Dove Gray" or "Pewter Gray" in '78'

So they are,  the last I heard( I dont pay much attention to local news anymore) they were testing the Black/Copper scheme but it wasnt going to be wide spread roll out.  So Ive still been seeing nothing buy white units , oh well, guess I need to get used to the colors so I know what to look for while on the highways:lol:

As for topic at hand, I never spent much time on what color I was going to use, I had kind of forgot about till I seen your thread to be honest.
