echoxrayniner Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 So I got this Laguna stock car kit I wanna transform into a regular Laguna S3, already got a decent engine replacement and fashioned some tail lights from a plastic sheet while taking headlights from an AAR Cuda kit.Now I could just roll with the stock car chassis and raise the height a tad and stick with the stock car interior, just not adding the roll cage and a spare seat. My question is though, anybody have a idea of a similarly enough shaped interior bucket that I can manhandle in there? And perhaps if theres a decently enough chassis that fits under it. Was thinking of the AMT 1970 Monte Carlo perhaps for the chassis.
MrObsessive Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Either the '70 Monte, or the snapper '77........they were all built on the same platform back in those days.
sfhess Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Try the chassis from the AMT/MPC 69 Cutlass. Unless the wheelbase is different.Revell snap 77 Monte Carlo for the interior. You will have to extend the package tray.
Rob Hall Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Try the chassis from the AMT/MPC 69 Cutlass. Unless the wheelbase is different.Revell snap 77 Monte Carlo for the interior. You will have to extend the package tray. The Revell 77 MC would give you the correct dash...I played around with this a few years ago and recall the MC interior tub to be too deep for the Laguna body...I've thought about using the interior tub and chassis from a Johan '75 Cutlass snap kit or promo, it may fit better.
Can-Con Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 The Revell MC would not only give you the correct dash but also correct console and lower door panels. The seats are also almost the same , the sew pattern is only slightly different,, close enough that even most people who owned one may not spot the difference. Really, the only thing that's noticeably different is the upper 1/2 of the door panels. [and again, you'd REALLY have to know both these cars to know the MC panels weren't also used in the Laguna]
echoxrayniner Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Hmm, the '77 MC snap kit it is then! It's kind of hard to come by though on eBay for less than 60 bucks with shipping included, while the '70 MC is literally all over the place thanks to the re-re-re-release. Though I'll have some patience with this build and try to score me a '77, I don't need total authenticity but if the fit's up there(atleast in the neighborhood, even if it requires knifin' and sawin') and it also happens to be semi correct, then hell yes. Thanks y'all!
