JollySipper Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 (edited) Getting a decent start on this one. The plan is to throw the custom parts from the chopped kit at the stock body..... Edited September 8, 2017 by JollySipper
JollySipper Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 Quick question for you guys that have built these...... Can I assemble the frame before running the exhaust? It calls for putting the exhaust pipes thru the frame.......
Lovefordgalaxie Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Quick question for you guys that have built these...... Can I assemble the frame before running the exhaust? It calls for putting the exhaust pipes thru the frame.......You can, but you have to cut the exhaust in three pieces. I did that in all '48 Ford I built. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXWzYmsMT0g&t=430s
Lovefordgalaxie Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Did the same a few months ago. Used the Custom interior, and the hot rodded engine from the Convertible with a stock body. Just beware you will have to cut a little of the vent window excess plastic to clear the custom interior. 1948 Ford Sedan Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr
JollySipper Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 Thanks, Tulio! I knew you would be able to help, as many of these that you've built.......
mod3l Lover Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 TJ you are off to a great start, that interior is reallybeautiful. So real looking! And Tulio, your Ford is top notch for sure. David S.
JollySipper Posted July 15, 2017 Author Posted July 15, 2017 Thanks, David! With Tulio's guidance I figured out a way to assemble the chassis and only have to cut the exhaust into two pieces....... I just built the frame without the rear end, made the rear it's own assembly, so I can run the exhaust thru the frame then add the rear axle.......Should have pics this evening.....!
mod3l Lover Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Very cool!! The motor is pretty awesome also!I eat this stuff up because I want one of these inmy collection of "I don't know when I'll build 'em"kits I have piled up!! David S.

Super28 Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Looking Good! . What did you use on the interior? Like the way it doesn'y shine
JollySipper Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 Thank you, Tulio! Looking Good! . What did you use on the interior? Like the way it doesn'y shine Thanks, Terry..... The interior is fabric tan by Model Master, it comes in a small spray can. I like to use it because it dries rough to the touch, like scale fabric! The white is just bare plastic........... (don't tell anyone......)

JollySipper Posted September 7, 2017 Author Posted September 7, 2017 I managed to get a couple coats of paint on the body, then it got wet sanded with soapy 2000 grit........ It will get probably two more coats. Just wanted to get a mockup of how this is gonna look. To be honest, I kinda like the "suede" look of this without clear. Thanks for looking.........
